Andy that's much lighter than a full size truck so I can see why the Jeep makes a good off road vehicle. Are you planning or have you done any mods like bigger tires, HD shocks and a lift kit?

I got the Jeep with 2 miles on it, and at 100 miles, I got the Jeep on a Thursday and on Monday, I had 33x12.5/15 wheels and tires installed, removed the back seat on day one and installed a CB radio back in October or so. It's needed when your in the trails.

Currently it rides fine, and will rub slightly, I mean BARELY, when the front sway bar is disconnected and you really flex it out. Nothing that causes damage, but something that needs to be addressed. So due to that down the road yes I will put a modest 2-2.5" lift which will also give me enough room to run 35's if I ever want to go larger down the road. Right now it has open diffs, but has the BLD (brake lock differential) which is in a way software lockers. So in a nut shell, better than regular open diffs, but not as good as true lockers. So down the road I may put lockers in, depends on how aggressive I really want to go. Selectable ones are expensive as hell but can be turned on or off. Automatic ones are engaged the second torque is applied, but ratchet free to allow you to still make tight turns without hopping and chirping the insider tire. I'd like to get new front and rear steel bumpers with D rings and not those little loops I got now. Rear would be the priority. For the rear a bumper with a swing out tire carrier to get the spare tire weight off the tailgate. I have the lightest 33" tire combination and is lighter than stock, but people have still blown out the rivets back there over time. They can be expensive too, but luckily the club has some professional machinists and metal workers/welders that can make people custom bumpers. I don't want to add bumpers until I lift it since those will add a good 150 pounds or more to the overall weight, and lift kits will hold that extra weight with minimal sag. Plus the stock suspension has a rake effect to it which would be eliminated.

Sand will give a 4x4 trouble. I buried my Chevy shortbed in the sand up to the axles one day and it was tough to get out.
