Well, after checking a lot of sites, I ended up going with the H&R 12ga Pardner pump 18.5" tactical. It's basically a Remmy 870 chinese clone (Remington owns H&R). I can then send it to H&R and get a 28" barrel matched to the receiver for $55. Seen a lot of good reviews on youtube from some people who looked like they knew what they're talking about, so hopefully it's a decent gun. For under $200 shipped, I guess if it fires, ya can't beat it.

I use to own a Mossberg 500 Cruiser..didn't really care for it at the time so sold it. But my next gun purchase (whenever that will be) will be a Remington 870 Express 12 GA like this

I personally do not like the traditional shotgun setup. Especially when I'm hunting something that requires a quick reaction time, I can bring a tactical shotgun to bear much much quicker than a traditional shotgun and I'm also a lot more accurate with it. I don't mind the rifles as much but I still prefer tactical setups. I'm so much more comfortable with them even when hunting.

I don't hunt, so I generally prefer the tactical setup for a shotgun. Works out pretty well, as I tend to acquire the target MUCH faster with a tactical (pistol grip) gun over a traditional one. Rifles, I generally am the same way, but I prefer an EOTech red dot.

Mike I prefer the tactical setup even for hunting. What I usually hunt with shotguns (turkey, squirrel, rabbit, critters that move VERY quickly) requires you to acquire your target and fire very quickly. I'm lucky if I have more than 2 seconds to get a shot off IF that. Might have another second if my shotgun is set up for a longer shot. It's hard with a traditional setup. I'd LOVE a red dot on a shotgun for hunting purposes.

Going to grab a .177 CO2 pistol for the fiancee (and for finishing varmint off hunting) here soon, and been thinking about a HiPoint 45acp pistol for $150 at my local gun shop.

kcuf Hi Point. Save the $150 and get some ammo. Or save it towards something better. They're complete garbage.

Sold this today. Now I'm down to 6 guns. What next....

I hated that rifle. Wouldn't feed right, bolt was bitchy, and the peep sight SUCKED. Would NOT stay calibrated. At all.

You must be talking about the setup that has the folding stock on it. Because there is no way you can be accurate with just the small handle that comes stock on the Mossberg 500 Cruiser like the gun I was talking about in my last post. (Which I owned)

I was looking around for a shotgun to get online and came across some of the Mossbergs and Remingtons (both name brands) and I want one with at least a 7 shot capacity and I found that the shotguns with the folding stocks seem to be more expensive than the traditional setup. I told my buddy the shotgun I was looking at buying and he went out and bought the damn thing but I got to try it out and its actually real nice its loud as kcuf though, some of the Youtube videos make it seem like its quiet its not. (The Remington 870 Express)

Before my buddy bought the 870 he was talking about buying a Benelli shotgun with his tax return but the cost and with a quick look at Benellis website it seems they don't even offer a 7 shot.

http://www.benelliusa.com/shotguns/benelli_m4.php

^^
One I just found but seems to only be 4 rd capacity..at $1,800-2,000 bucks. So yea..the Remington 870 Express in black is my choice. http://www.thegunsource.com/item/37291_ ... .aspx?SR=1

Looking at that price it seems like it went down in price by a good margin. Guess I'll have to pick one up sooner than later.

I think he means the expandable stock or something like this:

Image

I'm a huge fan of that kind of grip. I prefer it over the traditional stock on, franky, anything. Tactical rifles, shotguns, you name it, I'd take that over the Monte Carlo style stock any day.

If for some reason I have to choose a shotgun instead of an AR platform for work, the Benelli M4, in all it's tacticool awesomeness (drooling), would be my first choice.

Mike nailed it. Even when I'm on military duty, I greatly prefer the M16 over the M4. Same goes with shotguns. I LOVE that M16-style back end of the one Mike pictured. I can bring a full size M16 to bear much quicker than most people can the much smaller M4. And with me being a big guy (6'0, 225), that full stock fits better with me and I can get a much more comfortable firing position with it. My preference with shotguns is pistol grip with M16 style stock.

Solid, or collapsible stock? I prefer solid for shotguns, but Magpul collapsible for M16/AR 15 platform rifles.

Solid by far Mike. there's no doubt about it. I'm much more comfortable with it. I am MUCH more effective with it in close quarters than most people with M4s are. The M4s with their collapsable stock just feel weird to me and while I'm just as effective, it doesn't make me any more effective. If anything, it decreases my effectiveness during situations where we're taking fire from a sniper because I can't set up as comfortably for a longer shot. Most of the time as a squad designated marksman I'd be issued an M14 or some other weapon more effective at longer ranges but there are occasions where I'm issued the M16A4 instead. Even with that I'm still accurate at 700 meters, which puts most insurgent snipers well within my range. M14 I'm accurate out to 8-900 meters though.

I hate the traditional collapsibles, like these.

Image

They tend to be loose and, frankly, crappy. I do like this one, however. More sturdy on the examples I've played with. I do prefer a solid stock, but I like the adjustability of this one.

My arms are long enough that I have never found any purpose to collapse a collapsible stock. Every M4 I've been issued it ALWAYS stays out at full length and I have yet to find myself where I had to change that. Give me the solid stock (which is slightly longer IIRC) and I'm prefectly happy.

Mine are about average. My fingers are short though. Which was probably the biggest challenge to overcome as a quarterback. I could (and still can) launch a football very fast and very far but at first I had trouble keeping a grip on the ball.

The only benefit I could see to a collapsible stock personally would be stowing it somewhere easily accessible so that I could get to it quickly.

The longer M16 stock definitely doesn't work for me. The Magpul adjustable actually has a position that does, and for that, I have a feeling my AR is gonna get one. This is also why I don't have a shotgun, as most shotgun stocks are too long for me. I have issues racking the pump because my arms are just too short. However, some shotguns do work out for me, like the Benelli M2 or M4 and the Supernova with the pistol grip.

Yeah even at full length most collapsible stocks are simply too short for me to be fully comfortable with. I can still be very effective (adapt, improvise, and overcome) but I prefer not to if I can help it.

Went over to my Dad's tonight and during the visit I asked him whatever happened to my Grandpa's old service pistol. I remember as a kid finding it in my grandma's house and was always curious about it, I believe it was a Colt M1911A1. Anyway, he tells me he took the guns, but sold some and gave others to his brother. Said he had one upstairs he used in case of intruders and went to grab it.

He came back with something I had no idea what it was. There were no markings on it aside from the serial and Nazi acceptance stamping. At first I thought maybe it was an old Walther PP, but had an internal hammer. He had never fired it, so told me I could bring it home and check it out for him.

Come to find out it is a late-war production Sauer 38H, this is from before they were Sig Sauer and the gun was not produced after the war due to the Walther's popularity. It's a .32 acp, and seems to be in pretty good condition, aside from the clear grips my grandfather had made for it to put pics of my grandmother and I think himself on it. This thing is interesting as it has a 2nd lever under the safety which you can use to cock the hammer, or uncock it. Waiting til daytime tomorrow to take it in the back yard and see if it fires. Trying to talk him into letting me have it.

What year is your Mosin?

I just got an M91 1938 In really really decent shape. We affectionately refer to it as "The bitch" since it kicks like a mule. My buddy and I went to a 200 yd rifle range with his Polish AK74 Tantal, and my mosin. With adjusting the rear leaf I was popping head shots on Dog targets from the 200 out open sights. His Tanal...Not so much lol, He found out quick the 5.45 doesn't travel very well down range compared to some goood old Romanian Silver tipped Steel Cored 7.62x54R.

I have a Glock 23 ported slide and Barrel now, And Im selling it this week. I've matured enough to know I only really want it for home defense, so it would be better to have a Revolver. ( don't need to worry about leaving it loaded and getting a weak mag spring) Looking into 4" barrel .357's. Any suggestions? Taurus makes a 7 shot one O.o

It's funny. People always complain about the MN and how much they kick. I took my M91 out the first time and was expecting my shoulder to fall off. 50 rounds later and I'm wondering what everyone was talking about.

So I pick up an M44 shortly after. Now those people say really kick. Another 30 rounds and my wife shot about 10, and neither of us think either gun kick that bad.

I dunno. Now I am not some little guy at 6'2 and 205 lbs. But my wife is only 5'3" and maybe 125? I guess both of us shooting guns for years, you get used to recoil and don't notice it as much as people just starting out and used to shooting .22 and .223.

But I did just pick up some new to me guns. It's been a year since I bought anything, so it was about time. Didn't think I would get 5, but the price was right for them, so can't turn them down:

( don't need to worry about leaving it loaded and getting a weak mag spring) Looking into 4" barrel .357's. Any suggestions? Taurus makes a 7 shot one O.o

1943. Pretty good shape.
