I feel the same way. I could never bring myself to keep paying on something that will just be given back after the time is up. If I'm paying for something, I want to own it.

I guess it would be different if we were talking $400 a month, but for $130 a month, well, damn.

my grandpa leases this is how he currently has a ZR1

yes he is leasing a ZR1 just called me today about it returned the camaro SS/RS for it

he goes though cars more then i do lol

also when the lease is up you have the option to buy the car for how much is left on it. seeing as a new focus manual is less then 12k mike if he really wanted to could proably buy it when the lease is doen lol

I am on the "I don't like paying for something I can't keep" bandwagon. Aside from modding, You can't really personalize the shit at all. and milage limits too, no thanks.

But as for just picking a car regardless of buying vs lease, I would say the mini. IMO it is a lot better quality than the focus. I don't know about the lease options but I know the warranty when bought new is pretty damn good. My girlfriend has a cooper S she just bought like 6 months ago and it is pretty sweet.

As you've now got a young child the Focus would be more practical. More space for child seat, and a bigger trunk for carrying his stuff around....and your guns!

The new Focus is stupid nice. It's roomy too. Not a clowncar like the Mini.

^ Agreed. All the models of the mini I always thought of as a joke.

The new Focus seems like an awesome car from what I've seen and heard, and for 120 a month is quite a good buy. Never driven one myself though

Mini is a failed imitation of the original, just like VW's Beetle. And they're both girl's cars!!!!!!

Another challenger has entered the ring. Focus vs. Sentra SE-R Spec V, FIGHT.

So far it looks like the focus hatch, but I need to check the sentra out first. I should. Have a job this week, so this may happen fast... 200 Hp and a 6 speed is enticing....

Have you considered a Kia Forte or Hyundai Elantra? Both are pretty decent cars from what I could see in my short searching when I was thinking of something new.

Kia Optima is BAD... ASS... Just sayin'

I would still go with the Focus. Are you sure you would want something with a 6 speed? Think about having a family.. kids in the back seat.. having to randomly turn around at times to pick up a toy, or a bottle..or something of that nature.. I love my 5 and 6 speeds.. but no way would I get one now that I have a child.. (Unless it was a sport coupe or an old school muscle car...)

I'm firmly of the belief that the driver just should not turn around at every moment the child decides they want you to turn around. He drops a toy, well, he can wait until we stop.

I'm not really interested in a Kia at the moment. Just not on my list of desirable cars. I remember the Sephia, and that clouds my memory too much.

I wonder how much a Mazdaspeed3 hatch is... edit: too much for a buy, but a lease...? Guess I got some shopping to do. :D

The Mazdaspeed3 has the same drivetrain (minus AWD I think) as the Mazdaspeed6. A fried of mine has one and has had a bad time finding parts for it and it just spits out wheel bearings. Blew the steering gear a couple times. After talking to him, I think it's a no go on the Mazda. Back to Focus v. Mini v. Sentra SE-R Spec V. For the record, the Spec V has a 6-speed and 200 hp, most of the cars I'm looking at.

Edit: Gonna take an SE-R Spec V for a test drive tonight. We'll see how this one turns out. :D

Absolutely not. He can wait until the car stops. It's a safety thing. Besides, if it's a 4 hour trip, Emily will be there too.

And yet ANOTHER challenger has entered. I thought this was out of my range, but a 2012 Passat is doable. I drove a Sentra SR, not the SE-R Spec V. It had the god awful CVT (WHY do they keep doing this?) and the brakes I wasn't a fan of, but the Spec V solves both of those issues. Now with the Passat in the ring, this could be getting interesting. The Passat has more room than either of the other main competitors... Besides, it's the best interior by far.
