Problem is, I don't have a lease price on anything else. I have guesses, but I don't think the Sentra's resale value is any good, thus making the lease more expensive than either the PassHat or the Focus (which is $130 a month). I'm guessing the Passat is going to be in the $200/mo range. I'm thinking either the 5-cyl, 170 HP or the TDI. With the Focus, I have no idea on the power numbers.

The focus is a really good looking car, it has a few oddities but once you get over them they're really nice to look at. At least with it you don't need to have a stupid CVT. Passats are built here now, right? If so, I'll let Matt bring the hate on them.

You really do get over the odd things. The G8 has the window controls in the center console and I hated it at first, but then I like it since the passenger can use them too and I dont have bother with it much on a long trip.

I'm still for the Focus. They're really not that small, they're nice, modern, good warranty so you never have to deal with it.

I don't think there's any issue with driving a manual no matter what "distraction". Besides, it's not like you're changing gears on the freeway on the 4hr trip that you guys were talking about.

The only reason I change gears on the freeway in the STi is because I'm childish and like to hear the turbo noises. Even around town i don't shift that much.

It really is. The back seat barely can fit Cooper's car seat. It sticks out between the two front buckets. It can only fit in the center, whereas the Passat is huge and the Sentra even has better space. This is the one thing that drives me away from the Focus besides the awesome interior on the Pass Hat.

look into a 2011 or 2010 fusion still have warrenties left. mainly the v6 even though the 4 cylander wile not the most powerful can still make onway entrance speed with out cuasing an accident

no manual though at least not on the v6 4 cylander might have never seen one

-- Tue Feb 07, 2012 12:39 pm --

edit actualy the 4 cyl fusion has mor epower then the passat 175hp/ 172 ft-lbs and has the 6 speed not the 5 speed. last one i really drive was a 08 so unaware they increased

really look into the fusion i had no idea they rased the power. also wile a auto the v6 has 263hp out of the 3.0L and the sport package actualy makes it handle pretty good

^ He would be looking at the 2011 or 2012 Fusions. Brand new for leasing...

Screw the Passat NMS  (New Midside Sedan since it departed from it's B platform aka the Audi A4 structure). I hate what the Passat has become, however....... in it's own right it's a pretty nice car and with the TDI is great to live with. Yeah, they are made by a "Fat man in Kentucky" Tennessee actually but I had to quote Clarkson.
From what I've heard from the local guys who have the new Passats, they really like them so far and with all the praise from journalists and such it seems like a solid buy. Curious to see how they hold up though, then again if something breaks on it, parts should be cheaper due to it not being a Audi platform anymore, but with leasing one that's not really even a concern. I looked at one at the dealership very briefly while Jetta TDI shopping with a friend and it seemed like a good bang for the buck, still haven't driven one yet though so I can't give you much feedback on my thoughts concerning that.
Just an heads up though, if you don't ricky race the piss out of the TDI engine, it will net you higher MPG figures than what is claimed. If the 3.6L VR6's weren't so expensive I'd suggest checking those out, but the mileage isn't great and half of the fun would be negated in a lease (adding an exhaust for Wookie noises  )

I mentioned this in another thread, but I would skip the Focus (unless the 2012 was improved) altogether and go for the Fusion. My boss (a 63 year old 5'2 woman) bought a brand new 2011 Focus last year and absolutely hated it. Even with as small as she is, she said the car felt overly cramped. Her husband, who is about 6'1", said he could never get comfortable in the passenger seat, and driving was even worse. They traded it in on a 2011 Fusion and couldn't be happier. They also said the Focus had no power whatsoever, but she had an automatic, so what can ya expect.

While the Fusion is a car I recommend, it just isn't exciting to me anymore. I really like the Passat and the way it felt overall. The interior space was simply amazing and the ride vs handling was an excellent compromise. Also had a huge trunk. Overall, felt like a luxury car compared to the other cars I have been looking at.

I think I have. Passat it is. Interior dominates the Fusion in luxury touches.

Anything dominates Fords interiors. They know nothing about luxury...

^^^ This.

Drove an Altima today. Hated it. Guy was pushy as hell too. I told him "I want a car that can sell itself to me, not a car you have to sell to me." Didn't listen.

^^Seems to me he's looking for a mid performance family car.. nothing super high on power or performance (a focus is in the running for christ sakes...) I don't know much when it comes to dubs, but I would pick whichever one gets higher gas mileage, as long as price isn't a huge difference.. Higher price could make the extra 1 MPG not worth it..
