First is a 1994 Olds Cutlass Supreme coupe with the 3.4DOHC V6. It is optioned like my '92 sedan was, only with the big six. It is red with grey leather, and 121,000 miles for about $1400. Needs some body work, but nothing urgent.

Second is a 2000 Grand Prix GT Sedan with 168,000 miles. It is burgundy with the torque star wheels. Grety cloth. They're asking $4000 for it, which is high, I should think.

Either way is going to be a stretch to come home with today unless someone can wire my ass some serious cash...for which I'd be forever grateful. LOL. I know what to look for on both cars, and would prefer the GP, primarily for the better driveline and the four doors.

Wish me luck, I guess...and donations readily accepted. LOL.

$4k for that Sedan is incredibly high for that mileage...

Good luck, hope something works out for you :D

I'd go gp direction as well... If that 3.4 is the twin dual cam engine especially... Really complex motor they were...

I'd prob wait for a cheaper gp though...

3.4 = nightmare motor. Ya got to tear half the engine apart to do any of service. And for a car of that age it just isn't worth the time or money to fix.

$4k is high for private sale, about average for a dealer. Can get a nice 2dr 2000 GT with 117k around here for about $2.5-3k. Price on that cutlass isn't bad, depending on how bad the body work is you mentioned. But with the 3.4 I'd probably shy away like others have said. 117k miles and I'm sure they haven't replaced the timing belt yet, even if they have it'd probably be the first thing I'd do with it just to be safe.

We bought the 2000 Coupe with I think it was 128k or 130k+ mi for $2.3k. Granted the axles were shot and a few other mechanical issues, but was a sound enough to give to a family member.
