Back on October 1st, 2011 Obama signed an Internet Treaty that allows other countries like China to remove any site any where in the world that they want. The content will be wiped from the servers with no legal proceeding. Only the Senate can ratify treaties, so he called it an Executive Agreement to get around the Senate.

Oh you're talking CB. I thought you were talking Amatuer Radio (which requires an FCC license). Nevermind then. Even operating simplex (without using a repeater), Ham radios have FAR greater range than CBs do. Some bands are capable of using atmospheric skip (namely 10 meter and longer wavelengths) to reach around the world. Even the shorter wavelengths (2 meter and 70 cm) can reach 30-50 miles simplex if the radio is strong enough. I've hit repeaters from 30 miles away with my little handheld 2 meter radio.

I had an epiphany the other day regarding this. One way or another, they'll get SOMETHING passed and start shutting down websites and so on. Then a "new internet" will rise up to take its place and we're back to square one.

Also, remember when we used to make dub cassettes of a friends tape back in the day? Average people not giving a rip about copyrighted movies or music was around WAY before the internet. It WILL continue. Fact of life.

And, even if they shut down the whole internet, we may have to go back to what... going outside and talking to real people? Real conversation??? NOOOOOOOOO!

This ball has been rolling for decades. It's just been picking up pace in the last 20 years and especially the last 5+ years. Just like a ball rolling downhill picks up momentum.
