04 gt, not much for mods, cold air intake, power programmer, working on more appearance mods, but since i just seen a Grand Prix identical to mine that will change quickly!

That can't be the stock headlights, they are way to clear. Lol
I have to buff mine every other month to keep them from yellowing, but they still don't look that good.

those are aftermarket projector/led headlights. i bought them cuz i couldnt keep my stock assemblies clear anymore plus they look super cool, they have the halo rings like the bmws have, not as bright though.

All newer Grand Prix's are Widetrack. Not sure what year Pontiac started that.
In 2004, there were 3 models. The GT was the base model. The GTP, that's supercharged and the Comp G which is a GTP with beefed up suspension, different gearing, HUD and Tap Shift.

yeah i actually had a a comp G i was thnkin of buying instead of the GT i bought, but the comp G had an oil leak, the 1st gear in the tranny was slippin horribly and the wiindshield was cracked. the GT on the otherhand was mint, kept in a garage and pretty much flawless mechanically so i went with the GT over the comp G.

Good move avoiding the tranny problem. I speak from experience. I've blown 3 in mine. A ton of torque and FWD is a bad combination. These cars really should have been RWD with a sturdier transmission.

Definitely need to beef up the tranny. Especially if you want to hit 350HP. Also, GT's don't have the HD transmissions that the supercharged GP's have.
Now while I'm saying beef up the tranny, let me clarify that my 3 blown trannys were not all mechanical failures. Only the last one was a broken hard part. I ripped apart the forward band excellerating hard to get ahead of the traffic. My first rebuild was because of antifreeze contamination. The cooler in the radiator ruptured which allowed transmission fluid in the radiator and antifreeze in the transmission. The second rebuild was for overheating due to a worn bearing that the dealership didn't change in the first rebuild.

Every transmission is different. Some guys go for years with heavily modded GP's before they blow the transmission while other guys with light mods blow their after a couple of races. So I really can't say. You can buy beefed up transmissions starting around $1700 and up depending on what you want in it.

The term "Widetrack" and Grand Prix's goes back to the sixties actually... It was a marketing ploy used to emphasize the cars wide stance and how that contributed to superior handling.

It was really revitalized in the 97-03 models, and carried on in the 2004 plus vehicles...

That being said, all late model GP's are technically "Widetracks"
