Howdy, (cliche I know)

My name is Kris, from the Houston area originally but now located near Dallas Texas.
Kris= Nerd+Car Wiz+Musician+Late Night Roamer

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

Vehicular Device: 2006 Grand Prix GT (M90 Supercharged V6) completely stock
Gandalf the White
( If you're thinking my naming of my car is childish I do protest. It is in my experience that if you personify your vehicle you're my prone to taking much better care of it. Also my truck previously belonged to my mother and was breaking down quite frequently but when I started driving it I named it "Thor" *before the movie came out* and never had any problems with it. I also took better care of it than I did any other valuable of mine)

Plans: For the moment I'm a full time employee and college student so money is actually okay but time is extremely lacking in my life.

1. I'm wanting to just give my car healthy support mods that aren't going to be time consuming to put on
A. 3in downpipe with highflow cat
B. Proper tune to fully harness all of the torque
C. Better cold air intake (K&N)

2. Some appearance upgrades. I'd like some suggestions/tips for this. I know in general what I want my car to look like but there
doesn't seem to be many options out there for this year of Grand Prix. For instance I love the ram air hood that firebirds and
g8's have but would they fit on the grand prix? Probably not. But I would like a more aggressive hood or front end if possible.
I really like my vehicles to stand out but in a subtle way.
A. Unfortunately Gandalf did not come with the stock wheels but some that I find to be, quite frankly, ugly as hell. I'll post
pictures of them later if anyone is interested in buying. I'm planning on getting different rims and then powder coating them
black.
B. I'm contemplating doing a murdered theme: black head lights, tail lights, spoiler and mirrors.
C. Has anyone ever heard of powder coating their exhaust tips black? I think it'd really accent the white and go well with the
other black accents I plan on adding later to Gandalf.

oh i could have comments, but i tend to stay on the melow side.

i am not as famaliar with the 04+ cars so i will let those that know offer the modding advice on that.

i do know about the only way to do the hood is inferno or custom, but there are a couple options for the lip (bottom of the front bumper, ) seems like special edition, and inferno.

dont worry, you wil hang aroung a litttl while and start to see different things that you like.

Welcome. I'm kinda surprised MPD doesn't make hoods for 04+ GPs. That's where I'll most likely get the hood for my Monte Carlo when I have the money.

It's really frustrating not having more options when your trying to make your car stand out a bit without being a ricer.

Welcome to the club. You can look at the appereance sticky in the 04+ section and get an idea of all the exterior mods for our vehicles. Most people just get speed daddy headers instead of just a downpipe and cat, due to it costing almost the same amount. Headers come with there own downpipe and you can just pick up a high flow cat anywhere for pretty cheap.

No thanks. After my Trans Am got broken into twice in 3 days time and then coming extremely close to being killed by a mexican gang one night, I'll pass. I still can't believe I survived that attack. Happened right off of Hillcroft Ave.

Dropping is not an option. I live in the country on dirt roads and have to drive my car around giant holes just to get onto my ranch.

Fortunately mine already came with the darkest legal tint in Texas. Just has some very ugly rims.

You have to drive over a raised railroad track to get to my place. Getting over those tracks is. A lengthy and timing consuming miracle every day lol. If I lowered it I'd have to tow it to the end of my road. Ironically my neighbor does this whenever he wants to drive his lotus about.

Now would the headers be more efficient overall then? Or more of a "more bang for your Buck" scenario?

The difference for me is the amount of time involved. I'd like to do all the maintenance And Modding myself with some help when I need it. Headers would be more time consuming I'm assuming, yes? Exhaust would be quicker cornmeal since I've done quite a bit of work on them in the past. I'm not really sure on how to fiddle around with headers and such so I'd need someone's help to do it safely.

Headers are more efficent, and take a little longer to do but can be done in a couple of hours. There are tons of write-ups on here that will help you.

All of the mods on my car were two hour projects ( or less) except for headlights. That was two weeks on and off of fiddling.

You need to be looking at the following websites for gandalf: pfyc.com, zzpperformance.com, houseofgrafix.com, reflectiveconcepts.com, thirdshiftstudios.com.

Recommendations:

Se/Spo lip from gm, inferno hood from pfyc, make your own cold air box with a 9 inch K&n, install prj wires and fresh plugs 2 heat ranges cooler than stock. Then get a custom tune for proper engine
Anagement from overkillmotorsports.com.

There are tones of things you can do to our cars that aren't ricerish auto zone bolt ons...

Right now you need to be researching in the appearance threads to see what people like drunkie, blknboosted, orange envy, and a whole lot if others have been upto.

The limit is time, cash, and imagination.
