Hello everyone! Name's Jim. I'm new to the site. I've got a 2004 Grand Prix GT1 with 160,000 miles and runs like a champ. Ive done a few interior mods that I think are pretty unique (I haven't seen them on the site yet) and a painted engine cover. I am a graduate of Wyotech in Laramie Wyoming after taking the Collision and Refinishing program and Trim and Upholstery courses. I'm looking forward to doing a few simple mods during the time I am looking for a job. Other than that this forum looks pretty cool so I'm looking forward to joining the community!

This is my cat Ratchet. He knows as much about this car as I do.

Welcome!

160,000? Check cabin air filter, it's the most commonly ignored filter. It's likely to be filled with leaves and such. Just run your basic maintain stuff and a few more things before spending money on mods.

Thanks for the welcomes!

Re. 04widetrackgt2: Wyotech was great. They really give you the confidence you need to do great work.

Re. BigManAndy: Is 160,000 really impressive for Grand Prix's? In my area cars regularly last well past 200,000.

Re. mshipman89: Yes the cat is awesome.

Okay, I can't hold it in any longer, this needs to be said...
Do you always get that much pussy on your car?

On that bombshell, welcome!!!!!!
How's your LIM gaskets since 160K is pretty high for a 3800 year still rocking plastic gaskets, unless of course they were changed out sometime in the car's history.

Re: Planeboy18: How would I check the gaskets? As far as I can tell they are fine.

Generally if they are on their way out, they leak coolant onto the LIM right below the fuel injectors (you can see if puddled up in the low spots next to the injector bosses.)
Also, if you look at where the LIM meets the head you can tell if you have much better aluminum ones (silver) or crappy plastic/nylon ones (black).

LMAO @ Matt...

OP: Welcome. :)

You're right, these cars will go far with proper maintainance... In most cases the transmish will go way before the engine...
