greetings GPONA! from ohio here... sadly not a grand prix owner but definitely have grown a passion to the w body vehicle and what it can do... been a member on NAIOA (North American Impala Owners Association) since April of 08 and learned ALOT about this vehicle and what it's become... Got a few friends on this forum already that are locals to me so i thought i'd learn a little beyond what my vehicle is and broaden the view a little to what started this wallet killer of a vehicle for making it faster and better

currently own a 2001 Chevy Impala LS sporting the 3800 series II V6 with a few modifications on it... currently saving and gathering parts up to top swap it which, from what my forum has told me, is a very big challenge since i know my impala never had a supercharged model till 04 but you pontiacs have had it easy since 98-99 i believe ;) and now onto a few photos for you all

Hey, and welcome. You were there that night at Superfly when Derek's car wouldn't start right?

A 3800 is a 3800 no matter what car it's in. You can just go grab the heads, LIM, injectors, and M90 from a GP or even a Regal if you wanted to. That Impala forum is sometimes full of a lot of BS... i.e. BBE (Yeah I said it, what's up). Top swapping an impala is exactly the same as top swapping any other 3800 car.

haha i know the feeling he sometimes starts stuff for no reason and i'm like what?!?! and yes i was the guy that tried jumping him

hardest part about this is mine is a pre 03 impala and they made updates to it in the trans that when i would try to swap and use a pcm with a stock gen 3 file in it... the car won't start because the transmission isn't an 03+ so little electrical bits that are really brain aching my project on this that prevent me from just swapping it and starting it up after i push a supercharger based file into the pcm of my own cuz i want it to read and let me tune the boost when i'm in PE and changing the WOT tables rather than just running off of N/A tables

So i'm just gonna make it an "04 pcm and trans setup" and hopefully the BCM will cooperate cuz of the stupid linking system they have for that... you gp guys can just swap and go :( god i wish i could

and to all others that i shall hopefully learn of since these forums take up soooo much time on my hands i thank you for the warm welcome :)

Welcome.

How about running a SSM90 kit from ZZP? My buddy has one on his Monte Carlo and has had great success with it.

True true. Impalas are indeed really funky with their electronics. Jeremy (fastrunner on the Impala forum) had a heck of a time figuring out some electrical gremlins a while back. I'm no tuning expert but couldn't you just get a pcm from another pre 03 Wbody that did have the Gen 3 file already plus the trans coding for the "old" internal trans electronics. But then again it is an Impala and none of the electronics like playing nicely with each other. Hence why when I work on Jeremy's Impala, I only do the brakes and other suspension stuff because I know if I touched any wire that something would go nuts and stop working

Hopefully I'll see you at Superfly again though. The more W body guys we get out there the better (my club is the one in charge of the event so I have to advertise whore the event whenever I can)

lol i tell ppl about it so i'm tryin my best... and if u have to be the whore of advertising then ya do... technically 03+ on the impalas is when they started changing everything over... i mainly pcm wise need to grab one that has the service code i need to push the impala SS file into it so it runs and after i get the right trans then i'll be good besides my BCM and keeping my fingers crossed lol

i have most of the parts in my small workshop here in the basement... i'd love to save and do that but in the end it limits my options for mods in the future compared to swapping OEM style and having a few more options to what i can do

Haha, I totally joined about a year back, and then never logged on again shortly after I saw that it's starting to turn into a dictatorship and just a big "buy my stuff becuase I don't own an Impala anymore" type thing. Everytime I was on the site I just kept seeing "No you can't do that. No one else has ever done it before so you can't do it either." Using that philosphy we would still be in the stone age. I do jump on the site though every once and a while to see how badly Fastrunner is getting chewed out for something (i.e. his turbo project).

Perhaps I'm a little biased based on the fact that GPONA is the Best Site of All Time!!!!!! haha

i enjoy mine for the humor the ppl bring me to the forum... i enjoy them and met a few of them in person hilarious and great people :) and i'll see what i think of GPONA as the following days persue lol... BBE is a genius in what he does he really is i don't hold that against him... i hold the fact that if his logic says no then i know there is someway to make it done and not just by him saying so or someone else
