ok so my buddies dad was asking me what kind of winter wheel/tire combo would be the best...i told him to def go with a winter specific tire since we get a pretty good amt of snow and we have all kinds of hill and shit...the ony thing i was unsure of was what size rim he needed to go with..any help would be appreciated since im a lowly N/A 3.8 lol

i would think 16's (unless you have a big brake kit.) would give a cheap tire as well as a little smother ride for the rougher snow covered roads.

With the GXP the smallest you can go is 17" to clear the calipers. Last winter I bought Firestone winterforce on sale from Tirerack and the rims were on sale too. They bite great in the snow and ice, but are kinda loud on clear pavement. That said, they were the cheapest but still are great and i'd buy them again.

Yeah, he can go the same size since you are changing the rims and the widths will be the same. I went with 235/55/17 all around.
