I've been thinkin on getting HID's for the fogs but i have been hearing from a friend of mine that it will turn the lenses yellow, and been wanting to know if this is true or false. Also debating which color temp to use if I do get them. I'm looking for the color that the caddies get with thier projector HID's. Right now im thinkin 6000k but also lookin into 5000.

I've never heard of it, besides I'm pretty sure HID's actually run cooler than OEM halogens.

Thats not true. Now you could ruin the projectors if you run 55w bulbs and ballasts. Just from the temp would ruin the reflector lining on the inside. But the 35w HID's do run cooler tempurature wise than the stockers. I think on my projector headlights it was around 80 degrees or so, and the projector is about 1/4" away from the lens. So far no warping or damage to the lense. Cadillac HID's are closer to 4300k.

i've been running hid's for 2 years now
the yellowing is from the cheap plastic used and the sun causing oxidation

it will happen regardless over time naturally on any vehicle

but the color is the main choice
a true projector system you will want 5000k or 6000k because the projector makes the color and cut off line

Our fog lights lenses are glass. As far as the lights turning yellow its cause of the thin film of UV protection applied to acrylic has deteriorated. Thats why those that restored their headlights and didnt apply the protectant again, will have their headlights turn yellow again. Also the projector doesnt have anything to do with the color. As well as the shield is what determines the cut off line in the projector.

What projectors are you running in your truck? Cuz on my car with the TSX (low beam), H7 (high beam)and factory fog light projectors it looks the same no matter what angle I am at. I have 5000k in the low beam, 4300k in the high beam, and 3000k in the fog lights for now. But yea if you are running HID in halogen reflectors/projectors yes it could change the tint of the light due to hot spots, light not being foucsed, etc.
