I'm planning on up trading my GT for a GXP. I test drove a GXP with miles way to high to purchase but I still loved the car and I want a v8. I love GPs and can't afford a G8 anyway so I really want to get a GXP. Anyway I was just curious what the average MPGs your all getting. Gas Millage doesn't really matter to me I just want to know what your all getting.

They definitely were not what was advertised....LOL for me, I average 14.7 MPG on 91 Octane, and 15.5 on the 89 octane. Though I would not recommend using the lower octane as it gums up the engine, My throttle body looked like a grease trap from a fast food restaraunt and you loose som HP too. I wish I could run the 92 or 93 like back east.

to help you gauge what to expect, my driving is to and from work, with 2 stops to drop off and pick up kids. so half the trip is in town with too many lights and stop signs. the second half of the drive is about 6 miles on the freeway with speeds at 75 MPH.

When we go on a road trip somewhere my mileage will go up to 21-25 MPG (depends on flat going and or up to the hills)

I do plan on puttng in a CAI, and exhaust. My hopes are that the increase HP will improve the weight to HP ratio and improve the MPG as the car is actually really heavy. Though what will probably happen is that my right foot will most likely become a bit heavier and the MPG will go bye-bye.

In all seriousness though, MPG should not be a deciding factor when buying this car. things like 0-60 in under 6 seconds, Lateral G's of .85, stopping power of well over 1G ( in a panic stop once, the car stopped so well and quickly...I actually got 1.45G's registered on the G-Meter) Something that will blow you away in comparison to your GT (I know I was going from my GTP to the GXP) You buy it for that V8, for the suede inserts in the seats, for that beautiful growl it makes.

Hope this helps

I drive probably 60% highway (75 mph), 25% country (55 mph to 60 mph), and 15% light city (70 miles round trip). I average about 25 mph on the DIC, and I've confirmed that by doing the math myself. I'm very happy with the MPG on this car. But, I don't do a lot of city driving, and I take it easy. I alternate tank fill ups between 89 and 91 or 93 octane (whatever they have).

I was averaging 11.8 in mixed, mostly neighborhood stop sign to stop sign, stop light to stop light driving. That was before I read someone's post that suggested accelerating fairly quickly up to at least 25 to get the car in third gear. After that suggestion, I've been getting in the 12.0 to 14.2 range per gas fill up. Disappointing, yes, but my tires are inflated properly, so that's not the issue. I could use a new air filter soon (it's from about 6000 miles ago), but that would require me figuring out how the heck to even get that assembly apart! I've never been successful in my attempts.

Wow! That shows you how well the mult-displacement works on these cars. Since I drive at higher speeds for such a long time, and my mileage is really good.

I do average 55 mph on country backroads with few stopsigns, so I'm guessing I'll be at or over 20. I'm going to pick her up today.

The '05-'06 have the much cooler Alcoa wheels though. ;-)

I do a decent amount of highway and city driving (generally not heavy traffic unless I'm visiting chi town) and my MPG averages around 17-18. I've clocked it just for the highway though and it gets more like 23 and I generally drive 80-90 so if you slowed it down a bit you'd probably get even better.

Octane does not effect mpgs. I get around that when driving in pittsburgh. Averaging 23 up here in ohio.

I rented at Impala SS and was drivng like a grand ma where i live with hill and stop and go, and I average about 11.5mpg.

I had to add my 2 cents to the gas comment gunking up at TB. All gas grades have the same cleaning capability, the cleaner gas for higher octane is a marketing scam that most people fall into. If you Throttle body in gummed up it may not be the gasoline. I know this to because i know of people who work in the petroleum industry. Money making, buy more expensive gas your car does not need. Laugh everytime I see some kid filling up with higher octane on a 4 cylinder car with a muffler and will tell me it runs cleaner.

yea i laugh everytime too lol. This one kid was telling me he's going to start putting premium in his 2.0 jetta to make it go faster, lol. All higher octane does is reduce knock on sport cars/super modified engines.

It really is funny because high octane is for more compression and boost.

People that use 93 don't realize if you car is suppose to use 87 and you use 93 because it was designed for that is has a hard time igniting the fuel and wasting fuel and affecting gas mileage and performance in a bad way. I was young and dumb and when checked my mpg i actually got better gas mpg's on 87 and ran slightly better times at the track.

All time famous line "Man i used 93 and it feels faster, I am going to try race fuel next time"

For those who don't know Federal Requirements say that all levels of gas should have the same cleaning agents or ability. Do not be fooled unless you have high compression, boost or a knocking engine. Even with a knocking engine 89 may just be fine to get rid of that.
