What is the history of the 5.3L V8 LS4 motor? I'm very impressed in how it performs in my GXP and would like to know more about it.

there's a little info in here:

basically it's a GM LS based engine and they're all great motors

Wiki pretty much has everything. It was only around 5 years, '05-'09. And was mated to the worst transmission possible.
