I recently had to have the Tranny on my 06 GXP rebuild by the dealership. It had 45K miles on it and had not been driven hard (not too hard) The Dealership recomended installing a tranny cooler for the car as these are seeming to run hot especially in Southern California Stop and go driving. I was wondering if anyone else has installed one or not? If so, do you have a recomendation on which cooler will work and where you put the cooler at? thanks

I've heard external coolers are bad news. It makes your chances that much worse of developing a leak and with your high line pressures, even a pinprick could mean a dry pan very quickly.

You get to a point where you don't have a choice as well. Tranny cooler is going on mine in the winter off season.

Well, for now, it is a mute point, the car is going to have to go back, something just does not feel right. It seems to have a stutter when in 4th gear between 45-55 when applying a minor amount of power, like if you were going up a small incline and needed to just give a little more gas to hold your speed.

Isn't the tranny fluid cooled by the radiator anyway? My transmission never gets any hotter than my engine is running.

thing to note is i know some dealerships will void parts of warranties by adding stuff like this. because you are modifying the cooling system for the trans. migt want to get it in writing that they recommend a cooler, and see what brand and size they recommend so you can always go back to say they told me to get this part. its all about covering your own A** when dealing with stuff like this.
