not sure what it is but I hear a clicking noise when I turn left or right and it sounds like its coming from the passenger side. anyone know what this might be and what causes it? im goona take it to the shop and see if they can figure it out. Also would this be covered under the powertrain warrenty?

Is it more of cluck maybe? If so it could be the ISS. Very common in these cars. I dont think that would be covered under powertrain though.

If it's a clicking that is dependent on vehicle speed, it COULD be the outer CV joint. Powertrain should cover that, and will likely just replace an axle.

more or less inbetween.... not really a clunk and a bit louder then a click. It happens when I turn the wheel. moving or not it does the same thing.

OH btw. HotrodOlds, can't help but notice the car you have and makes me wonder what all you have done with it thus far.. i had the 96 Cutlass Supreme Coupe and loved that car to death. Unfortnatly its day came.

well took it in to the stealership and they said it was the the Strut (noted that it wasn't coming from the passenger but the driver's side instead.) and needs to be replaced. Thing is they don't do strut work so im wondering if what they are saying is true..... though I am sure the strut is out or goin because i recently did the brakes and found dirt covered grease on the shoe rim and strut, its only on the front driver strut. So would this be the culprit of the clicking noise im hearing? Fortunatly i have over 240 hrs of sick time that I can use to get this fixed and the estimate from another stealership around 80 miles away from where I live has it at around 707-800 parts and labor howerver not including taxes.

You're much better off doing it yourself. 4 new struts can be completely done in a matter of a few hours in your own garage, with some very basic tools, and a spring compressor you can rent from Auto Zone, or Advance Auto.

I'm going to be willing to bet that the clicking you're hearing is the intermediate shaft click ( I THINK ) that GM knows about, and that 04+ cars are notorious for. There is no recall, and there is no fix for it. My stealership told me they can fix it, but it will only happen again in 10-20K miles.. and it's not covered under warranty.

I thought it was the Shaft my self but its coming from the drivers front as I have had someone turn it for me and thats where the sound is.. now as for the area i live in the nearest autozone or advance auto is more then 200 miles away i would rather not spend that much money on gas to pick it up rent and spend more money on gas taking it back... even if it was the shaft it still wouldn't solve the strut problem... if the strut went or is goin would it be the reason i get the click?

I've never heard of a clicking noise coming from a strut when it goes bad, when the car isn't moving... I could be wrong tho.

Well it took awhile of figuring it out but its now finished and fixed.. wasn't the strut or intermediate shaft... but a wheel bearing and required replacement of the wheel hub which is covered under the Powertrain warrenty.
