I am new here and i was wondering if anyone knows of or has had the issue of the serpentine belt on these cars falling off while driving. I took my car in to get new tires put on and the coolant and tranny fluids replaced. When i came back to pick up my car they told me that the couldnt get my belt back on bc it fell of while they were test driving it after the fluid change. Any help would be appreciated.

I haven't had this problem on this car, especially with the tensioner. My mom's Mazda has had the belt come off, but that is one that has a pivoting alternator. I am not sure, but anything is possible.

Hi, I went through this last year when I tried to pull the alt and have it tested. To remove or replace the belt you need a special tool- the Kent Moore EN-47988 Serpentine Belt Tension Unloader. I read where a couple guys were able to pry against the tensioner pully, (it's plastic btw), with success. A couple others broke the tensioner pully in the process,(did I mention it's plastic?), and had to replace the tensioner. The part was liike $140 and a pita to replace.
The tool retails for $135 I think, I got lucky and found one on ebay for $40. Even with the tool, it's no walk in the park. I had to cram a lighted inspection mirror down where the tensioner is to see to engage the tool in the square hole. I also had to unbolt the electrical box for clearance and it took a few tries to stick the tool in between the various wires just right so the tool would reach the tensioner and then have evough travel to unload the belt. Then you have to twist the belt to go bwtween the pully and the body.
These cars should come with this tool in the trunk IMHO.
I hope this helps and good luck.
