So I changed the rear brakes on my car today (They had about 3mm of pad left.) and found that when I took the pads out of the caliper bracket the friction material stayed in the bracket  3 of the 4 rear pads had the friction material come right off and the 4th was curling up at the edges. I think these are the GM ceramic pads, but I'm not positive as they were on the car when i bought it. i have NEVER had this happened before, and an very thankful it wasn't the fronts.

They look they've been on there quite a while so it doesn't surprise me that happened. I've seen that quite a bit before so it's not uncommon, even on the front.

The car has 53kmi, but these were ceramic and it didnt come with ceramic when new so they only had around 30-40 i'm guessing??? I've seen chunks of material missing but never the whole pad separate. I guess I got freaked out when i saw this.

Joe - I had the front pads separate on me on my way home from Milwaukee 2 years ago... I was about an hour away from home, and put my brakes on to slow down for a cop, and all of a sudden.. clunk clunk clunk clang bang boom... ALL of my front pads fell off on HWY 41.. the backing was still attached.. but I had to finish getting home with my TapShift.. and Parking Brake... SUPER scary.
