Any winter driving advice with the factory tires?

Mine have 72000 km on them, not too much tread left, wondering if I should change them for winter....

any cheaper alternatives to fit the stock rims?

have fun....mine had about 7,000 miles on them and it was scary when we had a decent amount of snow on the roads...it was interesting turning the steering wheel and continueing to go straight. i got winter rims and tires just because i hated driving with them last year.

The OEM potenzas are summer only tires. They SUCK in winter. I just put on a set of Potenza RE960AS (all season). Happy so far. Tire rack has great feedback/reviews of them.

They are summer only tires however I have been driving on them for almost two months on snow/ice with very little issue, it is -25c today and i got here with no issues..

I have never been a snow tire kind of guy, I drive on snow/ice for 8 months of the year so maybe I am jsut used to it and dont need them.

On very sheer Ice they will lose grip, so if you do alot of freeway driving or w/e and there is sheer ice or black ice i would say dont take the chance

you can get around with the stock tires but you gotta be really careful. Some good all season tires at least would be great.

I put this in another post, but my factory tires have 28,000 miles on them, and they bad, bad, bad in the snow. I was having problems just going up small hills with these tires. I had to turn off the traction control and spin and pray to make it up the hill. I'm getting new tires in a week or two.
