I got rid of the OEM tires and replaced them with the Michelin. What a difference these tires make, handling improved instantly. Quick question, when discount tire installed these today they said that on this car the tires can never be rotated. Is this true? I guess im not sure exactly how the tire rotation process works, let me know your thoughts...

Your tires are directional tires, so they operate best when they rotate with the treads pointing to the front of the car. Because of this, they can't be switched side to side. You have to look at your tire size, some cars have wider tires in the back, so the tire size will look something like this, 225/60/16 in the front, and 235/55/16 in the back. If this is the case with your tires, where any of the numbers are different, you can not switch them front to back either. There is always a way to rotate your tires, you can take them off the rim with the expensive machine, turn them around, use the same machine to put them back on, re-balance them, and reinstall them. The tire shop will tell you not to rotate them because is saves everyone time and money to just replace the tires a little sooner than to go through the hassle of "replacing" your tires every 6,000 miles.

Your tire guy was correct. If you have directional tires, and the GXP grand prix, you're out of luck. The front tires are approx. an inch wider than the rears, and can not be swapped. Something we just have to live with. As long as you keep propper maint. and have alignments done periodically, you should be good. Just check your tires wear patters often.

Yep, no rotations due to staggered wheels, meant for better handling. However if you REALLY wanna rotate you could by 2 extra GXP fronts or rears and sell which ever you replace or by aftermarket 18s or 17s (but this should go without saying), just gotta make sure they clear the front rotor and have a 5x115 bolt pattern. And the offsets on the rims are 40mm in front and 55mm in back.

I rotate my tires daily. All I have to do is back out of the driveway...

Still funny though.
