Wondered if anyone has heard of these guys before? I was looking around on an LT1 and LS1 forum that actually had some LS4 stuff on it. There is a company called trifecta performance that is offering a tune for the LS4 cars. You tell them what mods you have, if any, and they mail a hand held tuner to your door w/ the programming included. When you're done, you send the hand held back to them. They say the gains are anywhere from 10 - 30 hp @ the wheels

Might be something I'll be doing shortly.

That's an interesting concept, worth looking in to. I just wish that I had a little more brain power so that I could learn and understand this stuff a whole lot better :???: I'm saving that link.

It's the first time I have heard of them. I'm going to add the link to my favorites, also. I will be investigating them to see how they compare to other tuners. (i.e. http://www.vectormotorsports.com/index. ... &Itemid=28)

Word is "Overkill Motorsports" will have a tune for us GXP guys shortly. I contacted him (Will the owner) and he is finalizing the code and may be interested in using my car for final tuning since I live only an hour away from him. I'm just waiting to hear back from him (pretty slow to respond) to set up a time and place.

Most of you should know Will and the "Overkill" tune as being one of the best out there for the 3800series motor. Hopefully his reputation carries over to the 5.3L.

I'll let everyone know how things work out and when it is available.

Bob

Sweet. Most of their prices are lower IIRC also.

I have an appointment finally set-up next week to get my car "overkill" tuned by Will. He is excited to finalize the code. I am a bit apprehensive at possible negative effects since I am the guinea pig but someone's gotta pave the way for us. He is such a good guy from my experience on the forums that I'm sure he will help remedy any issues I may have.

I'll let everyone know the outcome of the tune. It is very exciting. I know part of the tune has some tap shift improvements as he did for the Comp G.

Sweet, keep us updated. Will they give you dyno results when they're done? If so post them up.

No Dyno, just in car tune. I am too afraid to dyno with all I hear about our crummy transmissions. I already have a tranny issue and don't want to make it worse.

UPDATE!

I visited Will from Overkill twice this week (total about 4 hours). He is 95% happy with how my car feels now with his tune but wants to continue to get feedback from Myself and another Member before it is ready for release. So far, things feel really good. It feels a lot like the DHP I had in my 99 GTP. The car feels more awake because of improved responsivness. The tranny downshifts much easier on the highway and in the city by giving only 1/4 - 1/2 throttle compared to before where I practically had to floor it to get the thing to downshift.

I now have skip shifts of course and it is a lot more fun to drive. New fuel tables etc.

He also made some changes to the DOD which I won't get into (too technical). From what I gather, when coasting or letting off the gas, the car will more easily slip into 4cyl mode.

All in all, quite happy with it now. He mentioned that oddly the original code for my '08 was tuned quite nicely from the factory in comparisson to the '06 code he had a look at. So GM made some improvements along the way and the people with '05/'06's should see a great improvement.

Good news. Did he give a final release date/timeline? Any indication on pricing?

The only indication I got from him was that the real delay will be in trying to find PCM cores from wreckers so he can build a small stock for when people order. He is starting to look into that and at the same time allowing me a few weeks to give feedback for possible improvements/corrections.

As for pricing, I don't want to speak on his behalf but we did talk a bit about it and he indicated he should easily undercut any other competition especially for the U.S. guys since we are located in Canada and the greenback is gaining against the CDN dollar. I paid more for my DHP compared to what he is suggesting his price will be.
