no mods, full synthetic, 4500 miles low oil warning. No leak anywhere. 1.5 flippin quarts lol. Filled her back up and good to go now. Do our cars really burn that much? lol

Yes. All cars burn oil by nature. If an engine doesn't burn oil, it has a problem. Typical usage of 1qt/1000m is considered acceptable.

Did you just change to full synthetic? If you did, change back to conventional at your next oil change and see if it stops burning

OK, but my brother swithced to full synthetic, and it started burning like crazy, so he switched back to conventional and it cut down a ton of oil burning

The gxp's have a recall for the oil consumption problem. Have you taken it in to have it done?

Actually it was for Tahoe/Yukon/Escalades. It was a TSB about sticky rings due to AFM. Mine burns about a quart every 2K miles on dino, about a quart every 1K with syn. The AFM cylinders have a tendancy to collect unburned carbon on the plugs and rings due to the lower combustion temps of the unused cyls in 4 cyl mode. My solution: GET ON IT! Nail it once in awhile and you will see your oil usage markedly drop. The syn is more "slippery" and more easily sneaks past the rings.

{no mods, full synthetic, 4500 miles low oil warning} Actually thats pretty good. Mine came on at 3K with dino oil, was a quart low. but I was expecting it to come on so it was no surprise. I put in 6.5 qts the last oil change and the dipstick reads full. With 6 qts it reads a half qt low on the stick, and it seems to need make up oil a lot sooner. Within a few weeks of an oil change. I can go the full 3K if I put in 6.5 qts. Must be an engineering error because Ive heard of other people having the same problem with oil level.

I just did a lot of driving over the last couple of months. 2008 GXP 65,000 miles, running synthetic Amsoil, I went 6,500 miles with no issues. Was maybe 1/2 quart from full when I changed the oil.
