I want to tune my GXP and was wondering how much torque and hp gains can you get from HP tuners? I want to install a cold air inductions kit and a magnaflow catback. Which tuner would be more suited for the job?

Hp tuners is not a preset tune. It is a tuning software. So the gains will vary on your ability to tune yourself. Superchips flash is just preset tunes.

Yes they are, the tuner has a forum where people exchange info. There is also a tune repository where people upload and download tunes. But a word of caution downloading random tunes can lead to problems. The best thing you can do is read. There is a learning curb but not to difficult. And when you get good at tuning you can tune your car for your mods and maximize your cars performance.

What is the difference in the flashpaq and the cortex for this vechicle? Has anybody on the fourums used the flashpaq or cortex tuner?

Custom tune is always better than a box/flash tune. Having said that I don't have any experience with anything other than HPT (for these cars at least) but if you, or if you know someone who knows how to tune or who has HPT, that would be the road I'd take since you can tune it to your specific mods/environment (available grades of fuel, outside temps, etc)/engine health/etc and not just a cookie cutter "safe" tune.

I use the cortex to tune my G8 and it works great. It's simple to use since all the settings are in a menu style format that give you multiple choices. The cortex has a warranty that covers the engine and trans and the flashpac doesn't, which is the only difference between them.

The cortex has shift firmness settings that go from 0 (soft) to 100 (hard) in 25% increments.

I gained about 30hp from the premium fuel tune so it was a noticeable difference.

It depends how little you push on the go fast pedal. I'm getting 18 mpg city/highway with a 6.0 V8 with DOD disabled, so I'd say it's pretty good.

I don't use the fuel economy tune so I don't know if it's more economical than the performance tune.

I want performance but I also don't want to lose fuel economy due to the fact that I have an 80 mile round trip to work everyday.
