I am looking at either a supercharger or a turbocharger. I can get the whole turbocharger kit with intercooler for $1200 through a sponsor (rear mount). Haven't looked at to many prices besides this one but I know for the most part it's going to cost more.

it will blow trannys like crazy till you find the right combo

and v8 fwd doesn't help any

please note that there is roughly a 20% loss in power thanks to being fwd

honestly i can't say the juice is worth the squeeze on that count

but i know a ram guy that took a uni kit for 2k

hey panther...havent been on here for a while...Im glad your poking around about this...Im glad to see you have a "sponsor" as do I...i would agree with the transmission issue, but that is something that we are working through...keep the slicks off of it...pop on some GTP wheels and some used tires and have fun!! This is the idea behind these...for God sakes, none of us are anywhere close to being "real" race car drivers, and if we are...then we dont have the big budgets these big teams have...lol..this is ALL ABOUT FUN...I just love to see how passionate and heated a lot of these guys get...Like they are really going places with their Grand Prix's LOL....but its all fun....

But, reference the (rear mount) im wondering who is sponsoring you to do this? Im wondering who is giving you a price because this would be a company or independent sponsor like ours doing the same thing....because we are the first right now in the world to start the R&D on a kit like this. This would mean that they have already done all their homework and were able to give you an exact price due to having done the R&D already...?

But, your going to hear a lot of roomers and opinions about something from people that really have no idea on actual application of a specific power adder or upgrade....just be careful who you get info from, because unless they know exactly, or have had the application on their platform, they really cant give you supporting info. As far as the rear mount on this LS4...NO ONE will know how the tranny will react or hold up on this EXACTLY, just idea with power numbers etc from Cartunings kit...and if you can recall or if you read into their kit; which I have been in talks with them as far as the engine side of engineering on their kit compared to ours, they use a standard shift kit and thats it! and they are peaking around 499whp!! I have been in talks with several transmission performance shops and have crossed referenced so many sources on this transmission and others like it...the HD's and the standards....I have had some folks jump on board with pricing as far as helping with labor rates etc...but as I was going to point out...yes, the transmission is the weak point within any build all of us GP owners have...and even with getting the best of the best as far as a transmission...my sources recommend that you have to spend more money to recondition select parts you upgrade once to twice a year depending on your racing/driving habbits...so you have to really make a decision whether or not your prepared to support a program for just some chest pounding rights...there is a lot in it...

A lot of us just want to dump every bit of money we have into something and have it run like a rapped ape for several months, or even a year or so...but then things go wrong...and everyone wonders why they are replacing parts in their upgraded motor or transmission, even it being the best of the best....heres a thought to everyone before you go dumping big money into something...just a word to the wise...I have experienced it... These race "teams" dont have trailers with big tool boxes for nothing...including sponsors...it gets hefty..even at our level...

As far as a supercharger...no one, including Ken Bel has anything for this car...the belt system is in a good position for the most part besides the water pump and the spring-hydrolic belt tensioner...as I originally was attempting to begin R&D on a Ken Bel supercharger that they sent to my primary sponsor to begin a program on, but I decided to do a rear mount turbo...there is simply not ENOUGH interest in these cars...as you know...they are step children...lol

My issue with a rear mount system is turbo lag. Due to that the fact a turbo uses expanding gasses to spool the turbo. However that might be a good thing in this case. Not allowing boost right off the line and maybe being softer to the tranny.

well in your opinion is it worth the 1200 or would it just be to much of a pain. I want to get a decent amount of hp gain but don't see many things that will help.

I don't think they make a supercharger.

1200? The one at cartuning.ca is like 5 grand and comes with everything including exactly measured pipes and the best install guide i'm sure is possible. Also a default pcm and tcm tune with free overnight air home. And they are also tested and used in a handfull of gxps unlike the "universal kits" that are either complete crap depending on where you get it or will need a ton of extra stuff to get them in. I'm sure you can get it cheaper than 5k parting everything together seperately especially if you have someone who can bend you some pipes perfectly.

Look up the turbo ls4 project guys on facebook they've got tons of pics of the entire process and you can also message them and they could deffinatly help you alot.
