Well, it is getting that time to get rid of the POS Tiburon and go back to a REAL car. I was hoping to get a G8 but I may not be able to so I will be going back to the Grand Prix route and I am considering a GXP. If I get one I am planning on buying a tranny cooler for it as the first mod, but where do most of y'all buy your performance parts for the GXP at such as for the tranny cooler, t-stats, etc.? I will be excited to get back into the GP community, I miss my old GTP and I am ready to get back into it. Will probably buy one in February once I have money from my tax return to put a decent down payment on one.

Great to hear that you are considering a GXP. Although I am only 20 I have really come to love and understand the GP especially the GXP. Unfortunately I hate to tell you that modding a GXP is not as easy as your GTP. There really isn't a site that offers a wide rang of performance parts for the GXP, i.e. zzp or 3800 performance like the L67 and L32. There are some good tuners out there for the GXP. I know Vector, Diablo and I think Overkill finally released a tune for the LS4. I got my Cold Air from these guys, gotta say that I LOOOVE it although it was a bit pricey. http://www.coldairinductions.com/W-Body ... irBox.html

Another strong mod for the GXP is obviously the DP and if you really wanna set her up right a full cat-back. Here is where I got a 3" DP with HFC from. These guys really helped me out when I was looking for a DP and where quick with e-mail responses. http://www.hoganperformance.com/DP7S.htm

As far as a t-stat goes I think the stock thermostat is set at around 186ish a bit cooler then what the 3800's are at. So I took a chance and installed a 160 (some say that this is a little to cool but oh well  )

I am currently saving up for a full cat-back exhaust right now, so I cant tell you what I installed. But from what a lot of guys on here have gone with is Magnaflow. One of my buddies has a the LS4 Monte with a cat-back and it sounds pretty mean. So this is what I am probably going to go with.

Hopefully this gives you a little insight on the GXP as far as performance issues goes. I will say though that the GXP is a sort of sleeper in a way. A lot of mustang owners think that the GXP is just another supercharged V6 and think that they can walk all over her......not really.lol I have seen a lot of people with there mouths open after seeing my GXP walk there Stangs. I traded my CompG in for a GXP and at first I was a little nervous that the GXP would be out performed by the CompG, but that just isn't the case. It is a really reliable car, gets 28+MPG on the highway with DOD, and has a few tricks up her sleeve when it comes to racing. I really recommend you get your hands on one!! Good Luck

Thanks for the info. Even in the GTP I had some stang owners thinking they could just take me, and ended up realizing that I wasnt just some pushover GP owner. Had one stang owner about trip up over himself coming to my car at a drag strip wanting to know how I beat his stock stang GT with my big ol' family car. But anyways, I will definitely look into all of the things you can do to it. Im just ready to have something with some real power and more room since I am married and we have two kids. I just wish they had something better than the 4T65E in the car.

Yea I COMPLETELY AGREE. The tranny in the GXP is def. iffy. It seems that the majority of the tranny problems on GXP's came in the first year of production which was 05. It also sucks that they didn't give the GXP the 3.29's like the CompG received. There is a site that offers the "HD" version of our tranny, but of course that comes with a hefty price tag. MY 06 GXP has 51K on it and so far no problems. *knock on wood* But overall it is a delicate tranny. GM did do a few things to stiffen her up a little bit but not very much its pretty much a 6 cylinder tranny in a V8.

The nice thing is, if you buy a 2007 or 2008 model, it has the 5 year 100,000 mile powertrain warranty.

Definitely looking forward to it. The Tiburon is a POS and I shouldnt have taken it. The GTP was getting to where I was going to have to start spending a lot of money on suspension, wheel hubs, etc etc etc and I just didnt have the money at the time. Times I wish I had just kept the car, but oh well. Time to get a newer GP!!
