Are cross drilled rotors necessary as a replacement, or has anyone had luck with a good quality standard rotor?

They come stock cross drilled. I wanted drilled and slotted, but the company couldn't find standard rotors.

If you can't find the cross drilled rotor you should have no issues using a standard rotor.

There are curved grooves machined into the rotor for extra cooling. Slotted and drilled rotors have the slots in between the holes. They dont touch each other.

Slotted rotors are more effective than drilled, in my opinion. Each pass of any slot over the pad surface slices a little bit off, making sure you'll NEVER have glazed pads. I loved mine, and want some again. Next time I do rotors on the Volvo...I just might snag some.

When I would do my brake inspections, the pad surface was pretty dull. Much more dull than a standard rotor, where the pad surface can get shiny, or glazed over. That's bad.

You will have more dust and brake noise with slotted rotors, especially if you have an aggressive pad, too. But, the tradeoff is more than worth it. I want a car that stops. If it makes noise doing it, I don't care.

Slotted rotors FTW!!!!! Love mine, and they are so much better than plain, and better than drilled for DD/occasional autox stuff. They are also better in wet conditions as compared to plain rotors. Cross drilled are nice, but if you don't want them cracking at the drill holes, you need to shell out a pretty penny for some quality stuff or OEM ones, unless you baby the car all the time, than it's not really a big deal. But if you find some slotted rotors that are just a little more buck than standard, I'd go with the slotted. You pads will thank you.

Yeah, they do look neat, but they are overkill and actually take away pad to rotor surface area.
