I realize this is touchy subject with some, especially anyone who is an F-body purist. I dont blame them since I am a Firebird lover myself, but ever since Uncle Bob Lutz declared an end to the bird forever I've been a little miffed. After he chopped all the cool names and heritage and set about his BMW campaign I felt lost and left for dead.
Kevin Morgan and Lingenfelter have both created some impressive retro faux packages for the Camaro (if you have close to $80-100k to spend)...and I only say "faux" because its a camaro conversion and not a true Pontiac package.
So many touches on the GXP pay homage to the Trans Am of years gone by, and when the Inferno pieces are added that raises things another notch (and there are some tuff looking rides on this board sporting those mods)

I've toyed with logo ideas and decal designs before, and (to me anyway) the flaming bird is as iconic a Pontiac symbol as the arrowhead itself. Mr. Lutz turned his back on all of that and then SLP emblazoned their "Firehawk" badge onto the G8. The G8 is damn worthy performance car mind you and the last Pontiac event I attended here which was "Pontiacs in the Park" at the local dragstrip, the Pontiac dealer had a G8-GXP on display all done up with decals calling it the "4dr Corvette"...a sales ploy to be sure.

At any rate, I was playing in Paint Shop as I often do and came up with this badge that I think would look cool on the properly attired GXP. Like it or hate it (I'm sure there will be both) but still fire away with your opinions please...
Image

I have also considered just the flaming wings on the arrowhead...someting akin to the "airborne" logo I have seen here (very cool btw) So this is basically a first pass and I would like the design further refined. I'm still a way off from actually purchasing a GXP but I can still make preparations :)

I've also seen some sig references to "The Four Door Mafia" which sounds pretty slick also, any art on that or is that an informal group?

I like the second one, but make GP Silver, and use the dart from the third one

Why not use the GXP arrow head? I can supply a pic of it later if need be.

I didnt realize the GXP had its own arrowhead...I'd like to see that.

The diamond?...I'm not following there.

I'm gonna play some more tonite when I get home...gonna try the third arrowhead with the chrome effect "GP" on the second logo...gonna play with the third one some more as well...maybe take the "inferno" text out, or relocate it.

The silver outline was what I started with originally as a border for the badge...(like the first one) but on the second I thought it would be fun to get outside the lines. When I get a GXP I'd like to reproduce one of these to put on the car or have it digitized to be embroidered on a jacket.

Here is a revamp of the second image...I created (or tried to reproduce) the GXP style arrowhead. I kept playing with size and decided to scrap the bird head altogether.

I'm gonna try another one with the badge border being a little thicker and try to make the "Inferno" text look like its stamped into the top edge. The GXP badge I found the image of online had a silver/grey center instead of the red. I'm gonna try some color in the center of the next one. Maybe gradient red-to-orange-to-yellow "flame" background...similar to the backdrop of the falcon wings in the sig design.

Personally I dig the one with the red bird. The diamond makes it looks like a butterfly to me.

OMG!...now that I look at my sig it just screams butterfly! I think its the spikes at the bottom of the wings. Here I am going for something bright and fiery, I chopped that wing off the Atlanta Falcon logo and changed the colors to get something more vibrant...and I get butterfly wings! LOL

I tried trimming the bottoms of the wings for less of the "butterfly look"...but I got sidetracked and did an homage badge for my present GP...This one's for the ThunderBat.

try dropping the head down a bit so that it flows with the wings better

I actually tried the head down in the "V" of the arrowhead, trying to get the ears level with the wing claws but it half covered the star inside the arrow graphic...just didnt look right, like it was slapped on.

Back on point, I want to get back to work on the GXP thing until I get something I really dig.

I was also considering an update rendition of the Pontiac Indian head...maybe something with some flaming feathers and an angry expression.

Here's the rendition of the Pontiac Indian head...I've got another one of just outlines but I still need to clean that one up.
Image

Less color and more of a metallic look on this badge...fixed the "swallowtails"...I'm liking this one more.

Went the full metallic treatment on this one...I know I'm kinda biased on the 'Bird wings, but I just love it...like to have this on the back of a jacket :)

I think I might be about burnt on the badge making for now...unless someone has a request. I'll be happy to modify one to somebodys liking.

I'd pay to have that put on a jacket if I had a GXP :P
