I'd rather not wait 6 hours for AAA and i'll be the lucky one to blow out on the side wall and not just get a puncture on the flat part and wont even ever get to use the stuff. Shout I just get a spare tire? Would I be able to use it either front or back? Our width is just different, so long as its an 18 inch spare it should be fine right?

it only works if the object that put the hole int he tire is still there. will not work on a side wall blow out or a hole bigger then a screw

All GP models had a 16" spare except for the GXP witch had tire sealant and compressor. Reason was the 16" wont fit over the front brakes of the GXP. But a spare from a Cadillac DTS (17x4) will fit all 4 corners (I already had to use mine) and fit in the spare tire well.

while i know thats why they did it..the logic is assbackwards because you shouldn't be putting a donut on a drive wheel anyway. anywho OP find yourself a good spare, plenty of good options suggested already

what year cadillac dts? I'd like to pick one up for sure. Especially since I'm waiting to see how long my stock rears will last, allready at 48k. Tread looks pretty good just getting loud lol. But that why I have the monsoon system. :)

what difference does it make putting a spare tire on a "drive wheel"?

I know it can mess really bad with any traction you may have had. Aside from that I dont know.

Hurts your transmission (more specifically the differential, and a car with LSD will hate you even more) since one wheel (the spare) will always be spinning faster than the other wheel due to the smaller circumference. It's also a terrible idea to have one on the front of any car, not just FWD, because if you panic stop and have a donut on the front wheel, you're boned. ABS won't save you, the car will pull like crazy (to the side the regular tire is on since it will have more traction), and any steering input which puts weight on the donut will be useless and understeer like crazy or worse, just say bye bye and separate from the rim. The counter argument to that is though, you're more likely to oversteer if you have a donut on the rear, but putting it on the front to avoid oversteer would require you to have a donut on the wheel which does 45% of total braking. Not my idea of safety. Thankfully my tiny car has a OEM full size spare so none of this is ever an issue for me  Even with a full size spare, I still carry sealant and a compressor in my car at all times just in case jacking the car up is too dangerous due to poor surface, rain/slick surface, etc or if the tire isn't too badly wounded that it could be limped to some place safer with just some sealant.

Its 2005 and up, or a Bonneville GXP, same spare. I would only use it on the front to get myself in a safer area to swap the rear tire to the front and the spare on the rear.
