Anybody hear a buzzing/humming noise when they turn their car to accessory? I seem to hear it first thing in the morning when cool outside but after that, I can't detect it. I rememeber reading something about the center speaker being the culprit but I could not tell for sure if it was coming from there. It sounded like it was right behind my spedometer area under the HUD.

thanks,

Bob

I haven't heard that but you can just unplug the center speaker and see if it stops. Just pop off the speaker grill and then you can unscrew the speaker.

Yes unfortunately what your probably hearing is your speaker buzzing. I read that it was a flaw about having the monsoon system and that GM was unsure of why it does that. One minor downfall of having Monsoon IMO.

If it is your center speaker, there is a TSB out that will replace that speaker.

I'll unplug the speaker but it really sounds like it is coming from behind the spedometer under the HUD.

Sound can be a funny thing though.....

I unplugged the center speaker and the sound is still there. It seems to come from just below the key hole and towards the center console (perhaps behind it).

I will take it in at some point for them to look at while under warranty.

yea its not the speaker in this case... had mine replaced last month and the buzzing still happens. seems to be behind the gauge cluster.. dont think its the HUD because I turned it off and was still hearing the buzzing noise.

Is is kind of like a buzzing/rattle? If so I have that on my car too. The dealer couldnt figure it out. I do have a rattle coming from the panel right above the ebrake that if i pull on it stops. I'll have to put some foam on it one of these days.

More than likely the buzzing sound comes from the "tweeter" which is the speaker inside the driver's side door that makes the regular chime noise. Some people at the beginning thought that the sound was caused by the OnStar system being on like a stand-by mode until it shuts off a minute or two later.

Nope: not the tweeter either. I covered it up with my hand and the sound does not change. It is different depending on the day as well. Loud some days, and not others.
It sounds as though it is right behind where the key gets inserted or behind the radio area.

Mine makes the buzzing noise as well. To get it to stop I have to yes I know this is the redneck way is to pound the dash a couple times and it stops. Makes me think it is indeed the center speaker.

make sure you don't have your cell phone on you when checking for the noise. I sometimes get feedback when I have my cell close to my in-dash.

My '05 was doing the same thing. Took into the dealer and it turned out to be the Interior Temperature Sensor. It's the sensor that operates the automatic climate control. Quick fix that was covered under warranty and has stopped driving me nuts!
