So i took a big gamble today and bought some used winter tires off of craigslist.
They were Hankook Ice Bear W300 http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/fin...=CONINT&cs=245
The guy had 4 barely used 245/45/18's. All of them are at 10/32 tread deapth and i paid $300 dollars. I can confirm at least for this tire and size that a 245/45/18 tire will fit on the rear wheel. Not alot of clearance between the inner side wall and strut but probally a 1/4 inch. So far great tires.

Even though I dont have a GXP, I have ran a 255/45/18 in the rear before without a problem. Mine is lowered about 2 inches as well. I think you would be fine.

Well they are on the car right now. But the big thing is that i have the 245 tires on the 7" wide rear wheels.

All of the 245/45/18s I can find call for a 7.5' - 9" wheel. In the past I ran some over sized tires on my third gen Camaro with any trouble. /2" is nothing I would be that concerned with.

I used to have 245/45/18s all around on my 2001 with no clearance probs. I had them on 9" wheels but the sidewalls were bowed out so I'm sure they would have fit on 8s or 7.5s nicely.

Its not that i doubted you could have fit 245/45/18 on the GP its that it worked out with the factory GXP wheels and factory offsets ect.

Yeah, I still dont think the whole different width wheels was a very good real world idea. I know when I get myself a GXP changing up to a same size set will be one of my very first mods.
