So I was on autotrader.com the other day and I came across a couple G8 GT's. I am trying to get a deal like Don did. I found a couple 2008's with less than 10k on them that are selling in the low low 20k's. My dad does not want black, white, red, or orange. I found 2 gray ones nearby.

The first one we went to look at sold yesterday. Although it was still listed in the dealers inventory online... So the salesman showed us a used maroon 2009 with 6k on it and the price went from $29k to $25,500. Supposedly this dealership gets used cars from the GM executives. It is a certified vehicle so the warranty goes from 3yrs/36k miles to 4 yrs/48k miles. Still has the 5yr/100k mile drivetrain warranty which is standard from GM. Only thing my dad didn't like about it was that it has leather interior. We got his card and moved on to the next dealership.

This dealership still had the gray 2008 GT with 8k miles. The salesman quoted us a price of $28,980. Then I showed him the autotrader ad that I printed out which said $20,777. The salesman said, wow I guess thats the price we will sell it to you for then. Same deal as the maroon one, certified used car, same warranty, etc. Only problem with this one is that it has a sunroof. My dad is very old school. No leather in this one. We got this salesmans card and walked away. Was it stupid? Maybe, but its not my money and its not my car.

My question to you guys is, what is the better deal? 2009 maroon gt with black leather and 6k miles for $25,500 or the 2008 gray gt with black cloth and 8k miles for $20,777? Both have the same warranty and just about the same options. Is there anything I should know about the car, pro or con, that I can relay to my father? The one thing about the GT model that I do not like is that there is no spare tire or jack! I know it has the air pump thing in the trunk, but a full size spare would have been nice.

Sorry for the long read, but this will probably be my fathers last car purchase for quite a long time. He's looking at either a G8 GT or a new impala...

Don't get an Impala, my buddy has an 06' SS and the tranny just went bad today. I'd say go for the one for 20k. It doesn't have the leather which is what he wants and he doesn't have to use the Sunroof if he doesn't like it he doesn't have to use it but when it comes time to sell it it's always a plus. Also you'll be saving 5k which is a great bonus.

If he does not want leather then get the one for 20K. That is a great deal for someone that does not care about leather. As for Pros and Cons there are no real cons. I would get snow tires, for less then 1K you will have a great winter car. As for a spare tire for less then $250 you can get a spare with all of the mounting parts and jake. PM if you ever need this info on how to get the stuff. Also if he drives like most older people he will get great MPG and he can use 87.

If he really needs to be "convinced" to buy a G8, it probably isnt the car for him. This thing pretty much sells it self, hell I was sold before I even test drove one just from reading up on it, not to mention the killer good looks of it! Good luck, it sure is a fun toy to play with ;)

Well, money plays a big part here. My sister is getting married in June. Guess who is helping to pay for his only daughters wedding. He drives an '89 caprice with 170k and a failing transmission. So he bascially needs a new car and a beater is not an option cuz like I said in my original post, this will probably be the last car he buys for awhile.

Regardless of the issues, we just called the dealer and told them we are taking the gray 2008 G8 GT. We will be picking it up friday morning for a total price of $21,596.50 including tax, title, and tags.

Good deal dude, I only hope you can convince him to let you drive it as often as possible lol. Thats a damn good deal too, pretty much the same price as mine but with less miles and its certified. And I so would much rather have sunroof than leather. I miss having a sunroof so bad :( Dammit if only I had more patience lol

Well, yes and no on freehold. I found the car at pine belt chevy of lakewood, but since my brother works at pine belt chevy of freehold, we had the car moved up there and thats where we will be picking it up from on friday. Freehold pontiac does have the 09 maroon g8 gt that I first talked about in my original post. They had a couple other certified used g8's there as well.

Thanks to the help of bluejacket, I will prob be picking up the spare tire kit for the trunk and another rim as well.

My dad had a hard enough time pulling out of the dealership on the test drive without squealing the tires. I don't think he needs a 400hp gxp come spring.

No, he's a mechanic. They don't have any G8's at pine belt chevy of freehold. You'd have to look at freehold pontiac for them. Or jim curley pontiac. I usually go to autotrader.com and do my searching there.
