how do you turn off traction control in an 09 G8 GT for burn outs at the track?

There is a button in the center console in front of the shifter under center HVAC/radio stack. If you have heated seats it's the middle button. If you have cloth, it's the only button there.

we tried that, but it still seems to be active. I thought there was some trick to disable it that we were missing.

Why exactly do you think it's still active? Can you feel the engine cutting power when you're losing traction? Is the Stability Control warning coming on in the DIC at all?

i've never driven the car, but the owner can't even get the tires to turn over. No warnings on the dash that i'm aware of.

Well, burnouts on a stock G8 weren't exactly easy. The torque management GM programmed in to the transmission tune limits the torque so much that it can be tough to spin the tires. Definitely doable, but you really gotta beat the hell out of the car to get it done. Especially with the summer tires on warm roads.

torque management.........I was wondering about that. The car's PCM is stock so i'd imagine thats the issue.

thanks

Yes, torque management on the G8s is quite restrictive. A tune will fix it right up. :)

That explains why my uncle can't get his to burn out, hes been trying since he got the thing, we got a little squeel from the tires, but it was nothing...

That torque management screwed me this winter climbing a hill covered in snow. If I had more horseys with TC on I would have been all set.
