I'm considering a G8 GT- what kind of deals have you all been getting on them? I've read online that you can get one for 25K or so. Any idea if that's true? I'm looking at local dealers websites and they list for 28-31K.

Its weird actually, It depends on WHERE you happen to get them from....

i.e. Here in Yuma, AZ, you can get the last (If its still there) G8 GT for less than 24K, And less than that if you have an old car that qualfies for the clunkers program.

BUT, back home in Utah, you cant really find one for less than about 30K.

Yeah, looks like my area is more expensive too. I might go for a used one with low mileage.

mmm, I dunno if i would do that though....

GM has has a TON of rebates lately.

Im not sure of their current ones, But ive noticed that they have had the 3500$ just for buying a new GM car, Plus another 1500$ loyalty discount IF you already own a GM car, PLUS, if you have a trade in or a clunker......

So it may actually be the same to get a new one as it would a used one, just because you get the rebates on a new one and not on a new one.....

Your best bet though is to research it...Go talk to a bunch of GM dealers (Any GM dealer) And ask what their current rebates are...If you ask like 4 or 5 different dealers (Or more) you should start to find a fairly consistent bunch of rebates and deals.

I bought mine used for $20K and it's like a new car to me. I have 4 yrs/48K bumper to bumper and 5yr/100K powertrain warranty because it was Certified. I bought mine in December of last year, so if you can wait a few months the prices will drop on the used ones again.

See, that's what I'd do too. I've had cars brand new off the lot a few times and it honestly has no thrill for me anymore. I like finding a nice used example. Definitely keeping the GTP though. I'm kind of over the XT and the Formula, so I might let them go.

Hehehe, that's me trying to be reserved. More accurately, I'm obsessed with getting a G8 ;)

I'd like a silver one with a sunroof- is that a hard to come by combination at all?

08's didn't come in silver, that's only an 09 color.

Oh.....Yea, they added the maverick silver and stryker blue metallic and 86ed the ignition orange metallic i think....

It would be interesting to find an original 08' G8 with the hood without hood scoops. I saw one once right after the G8 came out. It was one of those 888 models (The dealer marked it up like 10K), and i guess only like half those 888 had a normal hood....

Ah, did not know about the 08's not being silver- did they have that darker gray color? I likme that a lot too. Although even white, which is not really my favorite color, looks great. Red is hot, Black is hot, damn, I wouldn't kick any of 'em out of bed

Had a few black cars, still have two of them- it really is hard to keep clean, but is very much worth the time.

I think I am going out to look at G8's this week. I really want a GXP but the price tag is hefty. I love the car I have now to death but why make payments on this car when I can just go buy a brand new one. I need to look into this more.

The only reason I would get a GXP is if I just had to have the manual shift. I don't mind the auto trans though, it shifts really well once it's tuned. The GT is putting out almost 400hp at the crank with a tune and a CAI, the GXP only has about 20hp or so more so that's a lot of money for nice brakes/wheels/suspension.

But, if a tune can do that much for a GT (which I know it can) I'm sure the GXP can be unlocked just as much. A GXP will have more modding potential though because it's on an LSx block from the get go and it doesn't have the limitations the GT does.

The GT uses the LS block too, it just has DOD which is easily removed by using standard lifters. My motor actually has better heads than yours, but a crappy cam.
