they shouldnt name it anything other then G8, just put SLP trim pieces on it to distinguish it from the other G8's out there.

Firehawk belongs to the fireturd and fireturd only IMO

SLP has already posted on the LS1Tech forum about their decision. They are going to be sticking to the firehawk name regardless what others think. There are a lot of firehawk owners upset right now.

If anything they should have brought back the GTX name, since the G8 is replacing the GP. Just because it has a V8/V6 and RWD, doesn't mean it's a Firehawk in my mind.

So what do you all think the SLP package will consist of? Typically packages like this are like intake, exhaust and suspension. Think they'll do some more major mods this time?

GTX wouldn't make a lot of sense when you consider that the GXP model will be available soon. Simple people might confuse the two far too much for any "GTX" or "GXP" owners liking. Is Pontiac going to be producing a sport coupe again (GTO)? That might be the only case where I think Firehawk shouldn't be applied to G8, but even then a proper GTO uplevel model would be the Judge, not Firehawk... so if SLP wants to revive the Firehawk nameplate by sticking it on a G8 with a supercharger, then I say, "Let 'em!"

At any rate, I wouldn't care if they called it the "G8 Pixie-Dust Mobile"... with an SLP intake, exhaust, body mods, suspension, and a supercharger on the top model, it's gonna be badass.

I agree it will be awesome, just seems like it will make the Firehawk name less prestigious considering it ended with the TA. I agree with you about the GTX/GXP issue too, that just seemed like the best choice considering it's lineage.

LET ME SET THIS STRAIT!!!!!!!!!!! The G8 did not replace the grand prix. I have first hand knowledge that Gm planned to end the grand prix production run in 2008. So the G8 did not replace the grand prix. The only thing it replaced was the grand prix's place on the market. They killed the grand prix to bring the G8 over here.

The Grand Prix ended and the G8 started. The G8 took the Grand Prix's place on the market. Sounds to me like the G8 replaced the Grand Prix.

I think they've phased out the idea for a RWD G6 due to the CAFE regulations. So they really only have the G8 and Solstice...

the GP was not even a full modle year run they where left over bodies and parts from the 07 run.

GM dose not like to waist parts that is why the 88 cutlass could be front or rear drive left over bodies from 87 when it was sapose to end. same with the 88 monte carlo left over bodies. the regal and GN ended early in 87 thogh they ran out of bodies :shock:

Not to mention that it's a good idea to overlap a replacement vehicle to ease into sales. Rather than just cutting off a popular car and saying here's the new one, buy it! They overlapped the G6 and Grand Am and the G5 and the Sunfire as well.
