So guys, I was totally stoked to see a G8 GXP in (Panther?) Black this afternoon...

I was sat at a light on my normal cruise route when I saw this thing parked to my right beside another car... All I could see was the front nose and wheel... At first I thought it was a new CTS V because the rims look similar... then as the light went green and I moved through the intersection I realized it was a G8 GXP!!!

Why am I freaking out you ask?? Well GM never brought the GXP model to the Canadian Market, so the best we have are the odd G8 GT, so to see a GXP here is massively rare... In fact it was the first one Ive seen in person.

The only way one will be available here is if someone went to the US and bought/imported themselves.

I have never seen one in person before so it was a treat for me... It had a fold down front plate so I dont know if it was an out of town visitor or if someone indeed imported it here.

Anyways, made me look twice and re affirmed my feelings on owning one one day!!

If you ever have a chance to buy one do it, You will never regret it. The G8 will turn heads no matter where you are, I get compliments at least once a day somewhere.

Just got a promotion at work (made the move into management), so when the GTP is paid off, I will be looking at the US market for a M6 GXP G8 in silver, sport red (burgundy), white, or black.

I don't mean to burst your bubble but it was probably a GT with the GXP front end and GXP or CTS-V wheels. Many G8 owners from the G8 clubs do that conversion since the GXP front is cheap and looks better.

No bubble bursting happening... It turns out about amonth ago I was chilling at the local cruise night on a Sunday in Niagara Falls, and there was the same car....

And on top of that, I know the guy from way back (he also has a 69 GTO and we've chatted before).... He's a GM employee from the Engine PLant in St. Catharines, and it turns out he bought the car over the net from the US in the spring (I think it was Georgia), he flew down and drove it back.... Sadly its an auto, but still a 6 spd... and yes its a GXP, not a converted GT.

Those are nice brakes and they will bolt right on the GT, but I'd have to get bigger wheels. If I did that I'd probably go with the 20" Camaro wheels since they look great on the G8. It sounds like the GXP you saw is a rare sight in Canada unless others have "imported" them.

Wayne wreckens there are about a dozen registered in Canada now. Including 3 or 4 that a Toronto dealer brought in for customers when they first came out. I'm sure they paid a pretty penny.
