well i was at the GM dealer here, and the manager said that GM promissed them a new pontiac hot rod, not the G8 GT/GXP so im expecting a firebird or a new GTO, because come one guys 361HP just dont cut it for a 6.0L V8, and the GTO was the same engine with 40HP more!

This just a sales pitch to frighten people to buy the G8, sales people use this all the time on TV and in person too. They also go off and explain that they are worried about gas prices so this is why they are making this discussion.

Not true at all. The LS2 and the L76 are not the same engine. The L76 is a LS2 block, LS3 intake with DOD cam. The HP is down in the G8 due to DOD. But with just a tune and CAI you will be over 400 HP and if you pull out all of the DOD crap you can be over 500 with just a cam. Stock the G8 out runs a Charger RT and is neck and neck with SRT. I think that cuts it IMO. Also dont count on seeing a new GTO or anthing else GM is not going to be coming out with anything in a V8 for many many year. Last dealers are full of crap.


As for GM killing the G8 it does suck, but I am so glad that I got one and that I plan on keeping this car for 6+ years becouse that is how long it will take for GM to have any type of replacement for it if ever.

One other thing please remember that this car was not and is not the replacement of the Grand Prix. The Grand Prix volume was take by Chevy.

I guess you folks forgot the G8 comes in a V6 version too, and there seems to be more of those made than the V8 equipped cars.

I just found a used orange G8 GT at my local Pontiac dealer for $26k but the idiot who owned it painted the stock wheels and gas cap door black. Check it out:

well when the price drops on G8's consider me the owner of one. I believe the G8 is one of the sickest car pontiac has produced as far as looks and performance. if i dont end up getting on, i think its time for some 2001 LS1 WS6 action!!!!!
