Miranda I know the G8 is no slouch, but the more aggressive cam in the LS2 gives the the GTO the advantage. The GTO might be a little lighter too. I don't know what it weighs but the G8 is 4000lbs. With my mods it would be a drivers race with a stock manual 05-06 GTO.

We're 3800 pounds ;) The weight difference is minimal depending on the driver.. I mean me vs someone who is 250+ pounds in a G8 there is going to be a pretty decent weight difference then, but I have that advantage cause I'm small lol.

I race a G8 with almost exactly your mods when I was getting my car tuned.. I pulled him a bit and he was pissed cause my tune wasn't even done lol. Then again this was right after the G8s came out and the kid sold his GTO for it... I'm not sure he knew what he was doing with the hand held programmer.. since this was the point when very few G8 guys would get it tuned with HPTuners. If the G8s had a good cam they'd be pretty quick.. they need gears though.. mmmm gears. :)

I have 6 gears just like you, the only difference is I don't have a clutch. And actually that makes the car faster because the A6 G8 GXP is faster than the M6 GXP. Plus you'd be surprised the difference 200 lbs makes.

Yup. Todays' automatics are worlds better than they used to be. Far more efficient, and shift faster than anybody can with a do it yourself box. With the capability to tune like we can, we can improve some things evern further. Plus, with the way a RWD box is, versus a FWD, you can be more aggressive with shift times, and line pressures without worrying about breaking certain things. Honestly, as much as I love a manual trans, for a daily driver and drag racing, give me an automatic, please.

Oh I fully agree, a manual will never shift as fast as your car. But I think my gearing is better than yours.. I wanna say yours are like 3:08's? It's something really low for gas millage in 6th. The A4 GTO is faster than the M6 GTO in the 1/4 (13.1 for M6, 13.0 for A4). And as long as long as you tune up the shifting so it's not so slow and sloppy like stock (same deal on the GTO) they are a blast.. it's even cooler that on the G8s you can leave regular for D and then make it shfit really fast and firm in Sport. A manual is definitely better for things like road racing, but for drag racing an auto will almost always be faster.

I guess I'll have to visit the other cars section, I have to admit that I never do. I think a tune and headers/exhaust would be enough, you already have a more aggressive cam than I do. That will put you close to 450hp at the crank, which is enough for the street.

LOL, just givin ya shit! Yeah, I'm not looking to turn it into a track monster, it's still my daily driver for now. I just want a little more oomphhhh!

I want to do a cam (gotta love that nice big lobey sound) but that's down the line...like 2-3 years. What you have listed is probably pretty close to what I'll be doing in the next 1-2 years. I'm more concerned with the suspension and wheels first though, gotta have that solid foundation.

My car weighs 3740, exactly, just like advertised. I know this because I had to have it weighed for my trip out here!

And yup, it helps that I'm only about 145lbs, lol!!!

The G8 has 2.93 rear end gears, but it does have a low first gear to make up for it.

Suspension is definitely important, I wish I had the cash for it.. :( you will also probably want to do a clutch (for the slave and master cylinder) with stainless steel lines before anything crazy.
