I bought a 2008 G8 GT today and I love it. It rides so much better than my Grand Prix and has a lot more power. It sounds really sweet when I get on it, it's nice to hear the roar of a V8 rather than a screaming supercharger. I wanted a blue one but they are very hard to come by, so I got one in bright red. It has heated leather seats, auto climate control, a cool looking audio screen and 18" wheels.

The DIC is between the speedo and tach and it displays what gear it's in when using the manual shift lever. Since it doesn't have HUD it also displays the speed numerically. Another thing it doesn't seem to have that I know I'll miss is outside temperature display. It does have a compass in the rear view mirror, so maybe it can be changed to outside temperature. I'll have to look in the manual to see if I can change it, along wit many other settings that I can't figure out. Here are some pics for you to see.

Very nice. Did you sell the grand prix? How much are G8's currently selling for?

Guz I paid $20K for the G8 and it's a 2008 with 23K miles. I traded in my GP for it and my payment only increased by $40. It's a certified used car so I have a 4 yrs/48K bumper to bumper warranty and a 5 yrs/100K powertrain warranty. My GP was starting to show signs of the tranny failing, and I didn't have an extended warranty, so it was time for a new car.

Amanda I miss my GP already, like any new car it takes a while to get adjusted to it. Trying to figure out some of the settings while I was driving home was frustrating. When I stopped for gas I couldn't find the release for the gas door, so I had to look in the manual. It doesn't have an inside release button, you just push on the gas door and it pops open.

I will ALWAYS make parts for the GP's and the other W-Bodies, I'll just be expanding my line to include G8 parts too. It might be difficult to make brackets for the G8, there's no bolts there to mount them on the car. This will definitely take some thinking.....

I just installed my first mod on the G8, the custom oil cap I got from Ebay for my GP fit perfectly! The only problem is it says Supercharged. Oh well it will keep any onlookers guessing, lol They won't know whats under that plastic engine cover.....

Thanks Cory, maybe someday it will look as good as your car. I do miss my GP already, but all I have to do is hear the roar of that V8 and the memories fade quickly! It does feel weird driving a RWD car though, it's a different animal.

I only got trade-in value on my CompG, which is pretty good considering the car market is flat. I tried to get more out of them but they wouldn't do it. But then I probably wouldn't have gone home without that G8 no matter what they gave me, lol

Brett when are you gonna get a G8?????

Miranda I'm sorry for the mistake on your name. It's been a long nerve wracking day driving 50+ miles to get this car and complete the deal. It always seems to take me all day to buy a car, maybe it's because the dealers are so darn stubborn and so am I, lol

wow Don!!! holy crap you made the big move. congrats!!!! WOW!

always hard to get rid of the "old" car but i see the GP memories fading in that beast!! makes me want one even more!!!

i can't believe there going for 20k already. i have still only seen 2 in town around here on the road, and both were red, so it might have been the same one both times.

The blue ones are sweet looking. Too bad they are hard to fine. Congrats on the purchase and good luck with it!

Nice purchase. BTW, RWD is where it's at. I've been in a rear driver for two winters now, and I prefer it. The car is old enough that I don't have traction control, so taking off in a lot of snow takes a VERY judicious right foot, but not having A LOT of power helps, too. And, yes, it is a whole different ballgame. The handling, ride, and everything is different. The chassis dynamics are so much better with RWD that it makes FWD seem primitive.
