Is the V6 G8 worth it? I was planning on buying a grand prix gxp or gtp, but ive been looking at the g8 recently and would like some input. I would get a gt but im worried about insurance issues as a 20 year old male. car will be my dd and i really appreciate any advice

I don't think a base or GT insurance premiums would be that different.

i never really did any research on insurance so you could very well be right. ive been looking and it seems that i can get a base model with 30-50 thousand on it or a gt with around 70,000 for about the same price so i might go with the gt but what kind of gas mileage do you gt guys get?

I have got up to 33 on the highway, But I mostly drive in the city.. If I had to guess it would be between 14-30.. Depending on how you drive the car...I tend to drive it harder than most people because I like too.. You shouldn't be worried about fuel mileage, It's not as bad as most people would think..

Price is really tricky, It changes in your area.. Look around all over to get a feel for what they are going for.

the only thing i would say about either version is you will want extra wheels/snow tires. it could make winter a lil fun but, your call

GT I just bought gets Avg 28 on the highway. Have seen 32 on a trip or 2 (weather dependent).

One word... Nope.

I get 18 - 20 mpg city.

The GT will more consistently get better gas milage than the V6. Imo, the V6 is a waste of money.

as far as i knew the base has all seasons at least the one that came in on trade did

the base v6 did not feel like that bad of a car still has some snot too it the 3.6L has what 300hp? so it;s not underpowered by any means makes more then the LT1 cars of the 90's and almost as much as the rated power of a LS1 (even though they where really 340-350hp)

on the dealer prep drive i got 34mpg on the high way with it and in town was around 21mpg. i reset the the DIC both times.

i would still get the GT though if i had to pic between the G8 base and GT

I asked myself the same question..got almost $5k saved up for a down payment. V6 is a cheaper car, puts out a respectable amount of power and looks hardly any different from the GT. I want the GT, fiancee says v6 (not her car anyway  ) , but as her dad said...If you originally wanted the v8 but ended up bouying the v6, youll always regret it.
Have you noticed how crazy these things are priced? Found a base model with 65k miles for 16,899. Right next to it was a GT, same year with 50k miles for 17,000. wtf?

Daymn...
ha, just saw this on a old reveiw on edmunds
First, raise your right hand in front of your face until your fingertips are slightly higher than the top of your cranium. Now, with your palm facing you, bend your hand backwards at the wrist until it is nearly perpendicular with your forearm. Finally, with a ramming action, deliver a quick, glancing blow to your forehead with the heel of your hand. For comic effect, try mimicking the sound of a percussionist hitting a woodblock when your hand impacts your head.

That's right: You could've had the V8.

Wow you guys get the v8's cheap wherever you are lol. I'm looking at at least $25000 for anything V8 G8. I just bought a V6 G8 for $17k, happy with it, can't afford 2 more pistons. Mileage is good enough (better than the GP at any rate). I don't know what point I'm trying to make cuz' I'm drunk and excited aboot driving a G8. That is all.

P.S. MGD is only tastes good in bottles.

G8's in general are insanely overpriced around here. I would have looked into them, but I got a brand new Jeep for less than a used G8 GT.
