After checking out my buddy's mom's GT I decided to pick one up in May. I want the graphite color with a sunroof, cloth seats, and HID's. Other than being brand new I don't care!!! Now I need to know when is the best time to buy, becuase I'd like to get an interest rate around 2.9-4.9% and buy the car for around 26-28k out the door. Should I try to get payoff for my Jeep since I owe like 7000 on it? I'm only going to be putting 2k down because we just bought a house. 1000 house payment but we bring home 4-5k a month. So I think I can afford a new car. What do you guys think I should do? My jeep has 84k on it and is an 04. Should I wait for Fall when they clear out the 09's or do you think the economy is so bad that they will try to clear them out for whatever they can right now?

Thanks!!!

Tommrow the dealer cash incentive ends, and pretty soon the rebates expire, so now is the time to buy. There's a Pontiac salesman that has been selling them in the G8 Forum for around $25K plus TTL. I don't think you'll ever get a better deal than that.

There's nothing wrong with buying a used one, I paid $20K for mine and I'm happy with it. It's certified so I get 4yrs/48K bumper to bumper and 5ys/100K powertrain warranty. Buying used left me with more money to spend on mods!

I think when summer hits and the economy continues to plunge they will off the GT's for around 25k. I basically want 28k for a new one and I'd REALLY like the 0%-60mo financing. We are closing on the house in a week so I can't get a new car until after then. I think I'm going to wait until I see the right deal or maybe a Demo car.

I get a discount for mods...like the Superchips 2950 Tuner for the GT....$369 my cost!

You might find a good deal then, it depends how many they have sitting on the dealer lots. The Cortex 2950 is $325 shipped at Amazom and I paid $200 for mine on EBay. Haha!

I used to buy new cars mnayyyyyyyyy years ago, but when they went over $15 grand I started buying used cars. I bought the 2004 GP for $15K, drove it 3 years and lost $9000. You loose that much the first year when buying a new car! Sure it's nice to have a new car, but they don't stay new forever. My G8 was 6 months old, by this time next year your new car will be older than that, and you will owe more than it's worth.

Todd if I was closer I'd trade you seats in a heartbeat. I love the red & black seats!

^sounds like a roadtrip for one of you^

I paid $27300 with 0% for 60 or 1.9% for 72... and the MSRP of mine was $35,190... and its an 09.5 with bluetooth!

I am 23 and this is my first BRAND NEW car..
my '90 Lumina EuroSport 3.1L was my first car
then the '88 Jimmy 4x4 4.3L
followed by a '96 626 5sp, mistake, but I wanted a manual
then the fun began: '00 GP GT 2dr, '06 GP GT s/c
and now my 09.5 G8 GT

Do you think in May/June there will be like 2.9% for a used 08 GT??

I also want Pacific Slate or the graphite color....slate isn't an 08 color though!

Magnetic Gray Metallic is your graphite color...

I highly doubt they will offer 2.9 on a used... what you are looking to pay is more than doable by the 31st with 0 for 60 and 1.9 for 72 mths and you can get your Pacific Slate.. Up to you, but waiting until May may hurt you (MAY MAY MAY MAY) lol

I can't do it by the 31st because I'm closing on a house. May would be the best time lol. My fiance got her 05GP back in 07 for 15k at 2.9%

I'm paying around 8% so a few percentage points don't increase the payment much. The biggest difference is the price of the car, if you can get a used one in May for $18K, the payment will be a lot less than 0% on a new car.

that is very true Mr. Rome.. but when I bought, all of the used I could find were about the same if not more of a payment.. I got a lucky deal.. if I had the luxury to wait until May, I probly would have found a preowned... but I think my gp had some problems, maybe a control arm problem or something

Most of the used G8's in your area are going for top dollar, buying a new one was a better choice for you.

Nick have you been playing around with the tuner any? I installed the autodim mirror yesterday that I got from Ebay and it works great.

You have to go to advanced tune, not quick tune, then you can adjust all the individual settings.

Set shift torque to 50% if you want it to shift firm or 75% or 100% if you want it harder. Raise the rev limiter to Superchips value then you won't bump it when you are shifting manually.
