if u r tired of ur tinted tails hindering ur reverse light output or you just want to blind pedestrians behind u, this mod is for u. this is a write up on how to replace your nonLED reverse lights that are in LED housings (like recons) with HID lights. i used 8000k brightness, but feel free to change that part up. heres what you will need.

~20' of 16-14 gauge wire for power
~20' of 16-14 gauge wire for ground (if u run ur grounds back to the battery like me)
~8' of 16-18 gauge wire for (+) second ballast
~8' of 16-18 gauge wire for (-) second ballast
1 - 4 prong realy
1 - rectifier diode (blocker diode) (if u r going to install a 2nd switch)
2 - ballasts
2 - H13 HID bulbs
misc connectors and small bits of wire here and there

ok step 1 - remove tail light housing
remove the 2 screws by the tailgate with a T25 torx

then pop the housing out

step 2 - unplug the connector
push the red slider out of its place then squeeze the top and pull the 2 halves apart
Image

step 3 - run your wiring
u may want to have already made some harnesses like i did the night before. makes life much easier. heres the diagram that i used and some pics of my harnesses. i also ran a switch to turn them on whenever i want to. the diode will need to be installed between the power source from the light bulb and the relay

heres a pic of the diodes. i got them from radi shack

step 4 - install the HID in the tail light housing
remove the light from the housing. put a little silicone all the way around the H13 bulb and insert it into the hole. it should fit like it was made for it. let that dry

connect your signal wire to the (+) side of the stock harness.

step 5 - reinstall the housing
place the ballast down in the tail light cavity where the wires are still accessible.

step 6 - connect all ur wires!
i dont have any pics of this because it was dark and the pics wouldnt take. just refer to the diagram to figure out which wires go where

step 7 - (optional) switch install
i used a coil cord, but u can put ur switch wherever u want. it wires in between the relay and the diode.

step 8 - TURN ON!!!

FAIR WARNING HID's + TINT = YELLOW
