A few of you have asked for it, so I finally decided I would haha

What's needed:
.HUD & dimmer/level switch (obviously)
.Phillips screwdriver
.Flathead screwdriver
.Drimel, drill, or something compact that can cut through the 1/4" plastic on the dash
.Wire stripper
.Electrical tape and or wiretaps
.Chalk or pencil

First thing's first, remove the lower dash panel. There's 2 screws located by the pedals.
(not necessary, but helps) Pull off the two clips to seperate the lining from the panel. Once that's done, you can pull the panel towards you to remove.

Now you can remove the upper dash panel. To me, it's easier to start by upclipping it by the light switch and climate control and work your way towards the gauge cluster. Unplug the fog switch and drop the steering wheel as low as it can go. Takes a bit of shimmying, but it'll come off.

There's two screws in the upper corners holding the Gauge cluster in. Once unscrewed, lift up over the tabs on the bottom and pull out bottom first. Unplug the two harness connectors in the back. Takes some serious work since these clips are hard as rocks.

Lastly Remove the panel along the windshield. Best way is to take a flathead screwdriver and wedge it in to pop all the front clips. After they're all unclipped, pull towards you to unclip the back ones.

Now that everything's out of the way.. Time for the real fun haha. Take the HUD panel/cover, lay it out along the dash and mark it out with the chalk or pencil. This way you know how far you can go (in other words, mess up) before it'll be seen. After that you can start by cutting away at the plastic. No real plan here, just try your best to make it look somewhat like this...

and not like this (mine haha)

Just keep test fitting till it finally sits flat. After that, you can take the boxcutter and cut out the 3 sections where the cover will mount. You can see them from below and just line them up by eye. Now be careful not to apply too much pressure as the plastic covering over the foam is very brittle and will leave some serious cracks that stretch past the HUD cover.

Once all the hard labor is out of the way, the wiring. If you're so lucky to own a 97-99 SE/GT then the connectors are already there and all you have to do now is plug everything in and you're on your way. I wasn't one of those haha... Found a helpful diagram that gives you a step by step to wiring up both the switch and the HUD.

I take no credit for this...

Now you just bolt everything up and admire your work. Hopefully you don't have the same issues as me, by buying a unit through Ed Morad and recieving a bad switch and HUD with the dreaded dimming issue.

After I replaced it with a working unit (from the junkyard AND cheaper than what I payed through Morad... Live and learn I suppose) It'll look like this

Hope this helps out... Good luck :)

Why buy something sensible with a RWD setup when you can build something really stupid, like this

I always thought you needed a special windshield that was slightly etched to allow you to read the hud.

It will work with a non HUD windshiled. It will just appear a bit blurry. I have one in my GT without the windshield. It looks just fine.

i did this to my se last year, no HUD windshield, looks fine. bought a gt LE this year with HUD installed, looks the damn same to me. i think HUD windshields are a scam and waste of money. i call bs on the high poilsh/etch part until i see proof.
