So I'm trying to remove my scratches by hand. I'm using Meguriars Scratch Removal. I'm taking my time with it and have gotten 2 panels done so far (fender and front driver door). 90% of scratches are removed so far on those 2 panels. I realize if I had a buffer I could get this done very quickly but that is not an option. After this I'm going to spend the next couple days applying some zaino coats of z5 pro or z2.

Here are some pics:

Scratch issues all over my ride:

Differences are hard to notice because of my camera but in person it is obvious.

Finally I see myself not scratches..

More pics as I go, the pics are w/o any sealant/waxes just scratch x remover.

I gave up because when I pulled car out of driveway there were the same scratches even when spending several hours on just 2 panels... So I figure I will either need a different compound or a different method of applying it. Maybe it is time for a buffer? The scratches were dulled down but not removed.

i have never done scratch removal by hand but i would guess it would suck because it would take a lot of time and energy....a PC can be had for around a $100ish and will save you a lot of time....also some scratches may be too deep and may need to be wet sanded out....pics would help.

Trying to remove the scratches by hand was ridiculous. I don't know why I even tried. I'll try a PC when I get the time/money. I just through a thin coat of zaino z5 over it with the additive and am calling it good for now (until I get inferno package painted).

I can honestly say I think I've created more scratches then I've tried to prevent. I believe the towels I'm using are the cause or maybe it is my terrible washing methods?

Just to test if I could get rid of scratches with a TON of effort I brought my spoiler inside. I sat down for about 30 minutes just rubbing in that scratch X and go figure it took out like 3-4 major scratches but there were still fine little ones left. I wasn't even pushing that hard and was going sparingly on the swirl x. Maybe I need to try a diff compound?

I would try something a bit more agressive and just make sure you're putting even pressure as your doing this by hand. Otherwise you'll wear thin spots in your clearcoat by taking more off in some places than others. Take a look at this from MeguiarsOnline: http://www.meguiarsonline.com/forums/sh ... hp?t=38239

if you arent using a high qaulity towel you will induce more scratches into the paint....also you wont get that great of results with the OTC stuff and doing it by hand....may need to step up to something better product wise and applicator.
