Thought you guys might like my write up over here. ;)

if you have scratches that the buffer alone is not getting out- you can remove scratches by this process:

Items needed-bucket, liquid soap, water, sponge, squeege, sanding block, 1500-2000 grit sandpaper, buffer, buffing pad, foam pad, rubbing compound(I use 3m) swirl mark remover(I use 3m)

Step 1-Fill your bucket with water and soap

Step 2-Clean area that is scratched with sponge and soap water

Step 3-Take 1500-2000 grit sandpaper on your sanding block and wet sand(meaning keep your sandpaper wet when sanding) in a downward diagonal motion while keeping the block in a horizontal position. Let the sandpaper do the work for you(Dont push down while sanding).

Step 4-After a few swipes sanding use the squeege to remove the excess water where sanding is being done. You should now have a hazy look.

Step 5-if you can still see the scratch repeat steps 3 and 4.

Step 6-Place a small amount of rubbing compund on haze, stick buffing pad on and buff. *Dont forget to have buffer FLAT*-let the buffer do the work for you. Always remember to keep the buffer moving.

Step 7-After haze is gone-attach foam pad to buffer, apply a small amount of swirl mark remover to area, buff

Step 8-Wash vehicle

Step 9-Grab a beer

Step 10-Drink and enjoy your non scratched vehicle

This process will only fix scratches if it's in the clear coat sometimes down to paint. If metal is showing your SOL without touch up or physically painting it.

^ Pretty much, it's a good result when you do it right, but it isn't hard to sand through your clear.

However, you can do what I did below with M105 and PC 7424xp without any sanding.

^ That is NOT paint transfer, fyi. The white is clear that was jacked up by an ATV.

like Kendra said you dont always have to wet sand...i had a customers car last week that had a dog scratch his paint on the door....the flex knocked it out in a few minutes...always go with the least aggressive method first and bump up until you reach the results you want
