I don't like how my windshield has the sand blasted look when the sun hits it a low angle

I clayed my windshield, using dawn and water as a lubricant... then I used a vinegar & water mixture (1tbs per 8oz) & newspaper to clean... finally I did a rain x treatment... it looks my windshield isn't even there.

I had bad experiences with Barkeeper's Friend on my OEM windscreen. Scratched the ever-living crap out of it. Now all I use is Stoner's and newspaper. Once a month I use the rain-repelling variety.

Invisible Glass from Walmart. It foams up and cleans windows better than anything I've used. I usually get it at Walmart.

Stoner foam plus some craybarring action and some glass polish. Then RainX the hell out of it.

I use BonAmi to scrub the outside and Invisible Glass with newspaper to clean the inside. The newspaper doesn't leave streaks, but don't get it too wet or it comes apart. So I wipe the excess glass cleaner off with a paper towel then hit it again with the newspaper.

What about tinted windows? Should you use newspaper on those as well or would a microfiber be better? I'd think the tint might absorb a little of the ink as it's more porous than glass.

If it isn't factory tint, then use something that is ammonia-free. If you use something that has ammonia in it, then you've spent many, many hard-earned dollars on a tint that now looks like :crap: I personally like the aerosol glass cleaners over liquid spray bottles like Windex.

I've learned a thing and two while detailing my vehicle over at a buddy's shop who actually details cars up in Fargo. Here's how I clean my glass:

1. Wash and dry vehicle
2. Use an aerosol glass cleaner, spray a light coat on glass and wipe with ONE microfiber cloth
3. Once dry, use a CLEAN SECOND microfiber cloth and (for the lack of a better phrase) dry-wipe the glass to remove any would-be haze that's on the glass

An easy 1, 2, 3 step that leaves your glass looking brilliant.

STONERS products are very nice.

If you got stubborn crap on the glass use 0000 extra fine steel wool, it wont scratch the glass and will take EVERYTHING off it including decals.

I use wax when its clean to keep any dirt and stuff off, I usually did this for car shows when I owned a few classic american muscle cars years ago.
Autozone also has a little packet thats like a SOS pad, it works VERY well and costs a buck in the packet with the goo. I just recently used this stuff when my bad arse bosch icon wipers went out on me after 5 months of use(stay away from bosch, even their website states a 3-5 month service life for their wipers, rainX lasts 2+ years)
