I like my tires to look wet all the time, but using the Mcguires foam, I've been having to put it on about 3 times a week to keep them looking wet.I've been thinking of trying the armor all stuff with the sponge... What does everyone else use for tire shine?

I use either armor all extreme tire shine (gel) or meguiars endurance tire shine. Armor all puts out more shine but doesn't stay on during the rain vs. meguiars which stays on during the rain and last a few weeks before reapplying.

There is a meguires gel, think it's sold pretty much any auto store (haven't seen it at walmart or target though) it's purple and smells like grapes :D. Lasts quite a while, but it does fling a lot of excess around.

anyone besides me also hear that using any tire shine product with silicon in it will actually cause the tires to degrade faster on the sidewall and will cause them to look brown and nasty over time?? I was just wondering if there was any truth to that claim.......?sorry to threadjack

truth

i use Adam's VRT...its water based so it doesnt have any silicon in it....it doesnt give an extreme shine but i like it that way....that gel shit if put on enough will make a nice layer of nasty shit on your wheel which isnt fun to get off.

I like using Meguiars #40 vinyl and rubber cleaner/conditioner. The same stuff I put on my dash and door seals etc. It gives it a nice dark black, natural rubber look but not an obnoxious shine. I let it sit on there for as long as possible before I drive the car and then take a shop rag and lightly wipe off any excess. I've found this helps reduce the sling back on your clean car. (I also use this on my wheel wells...keeps the black plastic looking sharp as well)

here are the links for the 16 oz. bottle and gallon. i buy in gallons because it saves a little cash and you can use it on your interior panels and dash.

http://www.adamspolishes.com/p-112-1-ga ... tires.aspx

and this is what it looks like on the tires.

My favorite tire shine isn't a shine at all, it's the Black Magic Matte Finish stuff and it's water based ;-)
It's not everyone's cup of tea, but I don't care for shiny tires and I don't exactly care for the mess that they usually make.

I used to use tire shine but I don't anymore unless I'm going to a car show/doing a photoshoot (which isn't very often). I just clean them with a stiff-bristled brash and some soap when I wash the car. The tires I have are pretty black naturally so it doesn't look bad. Less money to spend on products and no chance to damage the tires.

I almost always used Meguiar's High Endurance high gloss gel (the purple stuff). Never had problems with sidewall cracks. Even if I don't reapply after 1 washing my tires still have the natural blackness. Very minimal spin-off unless I go over 85mph (on a track of course...hehe).

But I'm starting 2 liking the dark n rich look vs the wet n greasy look these days. maybe I'm get'n old...

I used a Meguiar's can spray, but I didn't spray it onto the tires alone. I spray it on a pad and distribute it evenly.

However I just got a sample bottle of "Poor Boys Tire Shine" pretty nice stuff and smells great too.

I find with the Meguires tires gel I get all kinds of spatter all up the side of my car... so I'm thinking of changing over. Thanks for the ideas guys.

i used to use the armorall gel stuff that comes with the applicator pad, but after a while the pad got dirty (probably with brake dust) and would make my raised white letters on my tires all dirty...so most recently i began using the armor all Extreme tire shine in a spray bottle. seems to hold up fairly well

My favorite is the Eagle 1 tire gel detailer. Hands down the best tire shine I've ever used!

Duragloss #321 trim dressing works awesome for me, it's water based and leaves a little bit of gloss, and also drys quickly.

I use Meguiars Supreme Shine. It is designed for interior surfaces but it does an outstanding job on tires.

My favorites are Stoner MoreShine and No Touch Seriously Wet. They both work pretty well.

I've tried most of these tire shine products, hate them all. I stick to cleaning my wheels and tires and being done from there. They have some nice cleaners out now that can leave your tires looking pretty nice without the use of a shine product. When I used the tire shine I would use it very sparingly, let it dry for a long time (sometimes a day) and yet it would be sure to find its way on my paint or wheel (that is after thoroughly cleaning the tires too).

I agree but I still have some matte-finish Endurance Tire Protectant Gel.
