Hey my advice if you spray it down with a hose...cold engine of course. Make sure you blow any puddles of standing water out of as many crevices as possible; strut tower openings, battery tray, wires, bolt heads, etc... do it before you take a long drive to help shake any standing water and burn off any condesation or wait until you ready to take a longer drive. There are lots of rustable parts in our engine bays and it won't take much water to start turning parts orange if you start spraying in there.

I too use simple green, spray it off...then spray CD-2 Engine Detailer (Autozone) and then wipe it all down meticulously. I do this before my monthly drive from Cinci to Detroit. Looks beautiful when I arrive.

thanks for the tip

spent an hour on it today just using degreaser and a rag to get the thick layers off. looks better but if you did not see the before you would think it was filthy lol

bfore i wash the car i hose down the engine bay. nozzle on shower mode. then i use dawn dish soap and a long bristle scrub brush to break up the tougher stuff. can use simple green but use sparingly. once all scrubbed up then i hose off with shower mode. then i use my leaf blower and blow off all the excess water. once dry i use amorall tire foam on everything but the alternator and belt. colse hood and wash car. once car is finished raised hood and wipe to even the shine. works very well for me. hth's

I usually use Aluminum acid, Spray it on and let it sit for a few minutes.. Then I start the car and let it run while I rinse it down..

Turns everything nice and white.
