I was looking at adding a sub and amp to my current system and was wanting some direction on how to even go about picking something out.

The current system is crisp and clear, but I would like to add a little bass for good measure.

I'm not trying to blow out my ear drums, but something that will compliment the rest of the system.

I currently have:
Alpine Type R 6.5" components
Infinity rear speakers
Audiovox AV1410 in dash DVD player

It's been a long time since I have looked at car audio so any direction or assistance is appreciated.

Why not check out RE Audio subwoofers.. Maybe their RE or SE line of subs.. and then a small, about 1 to 1.5 cuft. sealed box made up.. Maybe a custom form box for the side of your trunk? Then, to find an amp depends on what configuration subwoofer you want to go with ( what nominal impedance...) But US Amps makes some decent stuff.. also Kicker Amps..

For amp, sub, and box? eeh... You might be better off looking at some used stuff.. check craigslist for some deals.. steer clear of the ones that are selling Jensen or Dual crap for $300 tho..

300 bucks isn't too bad. Id prolly recommend a 10 or 12" Alpine type-r, audiopipe ap1500...yes everything else audiopipe makes is garbage but this amp is probably the best bang for your buck, and if you build the box yourself you can get out around 300 with a pretty decent setup. Remember though don't skimp on the box and fab something up... the box is what makes or breaks the system.

Check out ebay...you should be able to find both new for pretty cheap.
