Well I finally got around to installing my sound system, but their is a gremlin causing me some head aches. I put my subs in the trunk, but has soon has I close the trunk the subs start producing a low end hum really loud! So I put them in the passenger rear seat so I could work on the system. I thought I fixed the problem, I could close my trunk. BUT now when I open any of the doors the low end hum comes back! :(. Please help!!

Check your grounds. Are you using an aftermarket head unit? If so, which adapter harness?

Stock head unit. Immuring PAC line inline converters. One for the 4 speckers and another for the subs.

Immgoig to try using a different grounding spot to see if that helps the issue. I haven't checked if this is a G8 problem yet.

I've been wanting to put my JL components and subs in, but havent picked up a processor yet.. considering a clean sweep, but other bills have taken precedence..

A ground loop isolater is just a band-aid. I would suggest also that it is a grounding hum, but you have to find out where it's coming from. ANY location you have a ground, I would check the connections, and if possible, move to a different location, 1 by 1. (Check subs after every location to see if you find the culprit) The PAC unit, I would not have laying on metal either (if it is) and if possible, ground the PAC unit ( I think it should have a ground wire right?) to the chassis. If your amp is sitting on metal, I would put a sheet of 1/4" plywood on the bottom of that.. (Or carpet, but that's not as effective) Oh, and double check your wiring :)

That's for the advice. I'm going to move the ground to another near by bolt if that doesn't do it, I'll ground the PAC unit too.

The rear bottom seatbelt bolts usually work very well. Strut tower bolts work too, altho one time I did have a problem with them.. (Hum, like you describe.)

I was thinking of getting processor, bu they are too expensive. I just got 2 PAC in line converters ( 1 for speckers and the other for the subs). I already had the components and subs from the GP, but had to get the smaller passenger rears instead of the 6x9's.

I have the components that I installed in the GP as well, I only had them in there for a couple months.. their JL's best component setup..

all I need is the processor, and maybe some new speaker wiring, might be able to re-use what I had though..

You're going to need like 20 more feet for the install. I took all the wiring out of the GP too.

if thats the case, I may just get new wire..

I'm sure that the power wire I can still use as its a LONG trip from the battery to the amp, lol

Lol, the only pain was running all the wires and modifying the specker plastic trim

Going to work on it today. The hurricane off the east coast was affecting Miami a bit.
