Hey guys,

Its been about 2 months since I fried my old stock stereo and I found one seller on Kijiji of an 04-05 model stereo. I need one WITHOUT monsoon or onstar or any other fancy stuff - I've just got the basic stereo.

Does this one look right?

I pulled out my old one and never bothered to throw it back in since it was fried. I can't remember if mine looked like this... I know for a fact that it didn't have the yellow buttons, but I feel something is missing...

I could be wrong, thanks though!

How does it mount? That should tell you if it is correct. Either way you'll have to go to a dealer and have it programmed to work in your car

^ As he said, you will have to have it programmed at a dealer. And that picture you posted isn't a radio from a 04-05 model...

This is one you need. With or without the tape deck. They have the same basic layout, but if you compare the two, they are different. Different texture, button coating, mounting points etc. etc.

Thanks.

Didn't think it looked right. The one I had looked exactly like that Jmoore, only without the tape deck.

I swapped the stocker from my '99 jimmy to my '02 gtp and didn't need to deal with a dealer. Had no issues at all. There's actually many that will work, its a very common plug. Just have to make sure it'll fit the opening.

You have to have dealer program in 04 and newer models, thats why your 99 to 02 worked and the 04-08 radio will not work in older models

Does anyone know roughly how much the dealership would be looking for in order to program the radio in the event that I was able to pick up a new radio?

Thanks

Believe me I'd be all over it but my gp doesn't have much left. Don't wanna spend the $100 on a wiring harness for a car that'll only last me about 3-6 months.
